This is a wonderful way to see and learn about the fur trade and Canadian history. Rendezvous week is especially full of events but is busy. It does get hot in the summer. The native encampment is also very interesting and fun for children. Great for families and everyone else.

Very interesting seeing how it was and how far we've come in living style. Special Events like renactment of War of 1812 were incredibly organized with rehearsed actors, gun fire, hidden pyro technics, etc.

I have visited this site multiple times with children over the last 10+ years. It has always been an excellent time! Plan to spend the day here walking through this attraction and learning about fur trade times. There is a restaurant on site but you can bring your own food instead if you want to save some money. Staff are... More

We attended FWHP on Canada Day and it seemed an entirely appropriate day to go. They really put on a good show here. The re-enactors speak and respond in 18th century language. They wondered what our cellphones were; quite humorous. There was a guy there with a telescope and we got to do a little sun watching. That was very... More

It is like being back in time. Everyone is in period costume and customs. Craftsmen and women are making everything by hand from nails to canoes and everything in between. First Nation settlement on site outside the walls of the fort is also first rate.

FWHP is an amazing place to visit. Enter the fort, and you go back to a time when the fur trade was an active and important part of Canada's past. Ask the staff, who are in period costume, any question about the time period, the fort, local culture, and you will get a short and well-explained history lesson. Lots of... More

Old Fort William is a great place to escape and go back in time to the days of 1815, where the fur traders and explorers hung their hats and exchanged goods. The group that live and work at the old fort actually live the life as it was lived back in the fur trader days, doing and applying the many... More

Fort William Trading Post was a stop over place for Trappers,Courier du Bois, and Scottish merchants in the then lucartive fur trade, The Fort has been restored to it's original state and is truly spectacular. But what makes the Fort impressive is the staff who play their part as if it was the 1800s.This is what sets this Park aside from... More
