The tallest thing for a real long ways! And used to be the tallest chimney anywhere in North America. But they are now building short stacks better suited to the small amount of smelter off-gas now emitted. In a few years, this will lose it's...More

Inside the Sudbury Smelter, is the tallest smoke stak in the world. This engineering smoke stack takes the toxic byproduct of smelting ore's and sends them up into the air, to disperse and land far away from Sudbury. We now have a much better environment...More

But you gotta get as close as you can. You cant tell how really big it is unless you can get to the very bottom which seemed hard to do and you must look it up on wikiedia or something. We ended up in an...More

An area landmark that has been standing since the late 1960s. to really appreciate it's height, go to its base in Little Italy in Copper Cliff. There has been talk of it being demolished since the new technologies will minimize emissions. See it before it's...More

Do not be fooled this is not much of an attraction there is no tours or much to see. You can see the stack from miles away and is known to the locals as a symbol of home. It resides on Inco property which usually...More

I don't really understand how this is a tourist attraction, there is no formal tour of the smokestack and never has been, and I assume there will never be. You can drive by it and look up at it, it's pretty cool and has been...More

This stack was built several decades ago to help with local pollution. It did help in that the pollution that was coming out was distributed over a wider and distant area. It's not great guns as a tourist attraction but just to see it from...More

This is a dirty Vale industrial site. There is toxic sulphur dioxide spewing out of the top. Don't stand under it when there is a down draft because you will definitely smell if not taste the sulphur. It looks like bricks.

An impressive feat of engineering resulted in this stack, but for those who go to visit it will look like just a stack. Better to read about it first and understand just how high it is (second tallest in the world) and to understand the...More

This is embarrassing for the town to list this as an attraction. there is nothing there except smoke stacks that you cannot even get close to. No history on it or museum ect. Do not waste your time!
