Small theatre by the river. Fabulous plays. This will be the last year as construction will begin on a new theatre.

The Patterson has an open center stage, with rows of seats on all sides. That's great for seeing and hearing everything, which is important as the plays and actors are truly wonderful. However, the seats are small, with little padding, and in such a tight...More

On Sep 10th we saw almost one of the last performances of Timon of Athens for this season, one of Shakespeare's lesser known plays. It is a performance which stays in the memory long after the performance finishes. Stephen Ouimette is right in stating "...More

We saw two performances at this theater - Timon of Athens and Bakkhai. Two rather intense performances (with some mild comic relief) were held in the theater in the round. The structure of the stage gave everyone a good few of the performances - not...More

There may be no bad seats in the house from the point of seeing the performances, but the seats are uncomfortable and the legroom is inadequate. We're looking forward to the opening of the new Patterson Theatre, now in the planning stage. As for the...More

Timon of Athens is a Shakespeare play that is rarely performed, this being only the fourth time in over 60 years and the first since 2004. If, like us, you are trying to see the complete canon this is an excellent performance. We were fortunate...More

We have been attending Festival plays for 40+ years. We took in two here - each a serious drama with terrific acting but nonetheless, quite taxing in their themes. The theatre in the round concept works, keeping everyone close to the actors, but the seats...More

We saw two plays in the newly designed Tom Patterson this year. Both were made more memorable by the way the stage, now surrounded by seats on all sides, brings the actors even closer to the audience. The front row seats are still the best...More
