God range of exhibits and informative details. 100 years old whaling canoes, solid wood, barks, lots of types. An on-site operating workshop with weekly demonstrations. Less interesting for those with no real interest in watercraft, and canoes in particular

I was taken here whilst visiting a relative. The museum is a historical record of how the canoe evolved from the early 1500's when the English first went to Canada to modern day kayaks. The Museum explains how and who started it. The Museum has...More

You don't have to be a canoeist to be Canadian, but it helps. The canoe is an integral part of our heritage, an essential item for many First Nations peoples, and a work of art when well made. This museum will instil all three of...More

This museum should be a "must see" for anyone wanting to see how this country was explored and the dangers these travelers undertook to trade and to live. This is a good day trip and a good objective for our 150th. year. Do not miss...More

I was amazed at the content and the organization involved....Supposed to be building a new home by the Peterborough Lift Locks. I do not know when. Well worth a visit.

From the moment I walked in the door, I had such a feeling of calm and isn't that exactly what padding a canoe is all about? Great staff and volunteers as well. Had the pleasure of a tour and am seriously going back to spend...More

Or the most convenient way is likely renting a car. The museum is just 1 hour 20 minute drive from either downtown Toronto or the Airport (Pearson). Depending on the size of your group, it might be cheaper too.

I took the Greyhound bus from Toronto to Peterborough - about $25CAD. Took a couple of hours. You can walk or get a taxi from Peterborough Greyhound terminal to Canoe museum.
