We recently stayed in Ottawa for some family fun and on a whim we decided to visit the Billings Estate for the Easter activities. IT WAS AWESOME !!!!! Our 6 kids had so much fun hunting for Bunny Bucks, dying eggs, having their faces painted and making bunny baskets. It was really good value for money (16.75$ for the entire... More

What a wonderful afternoon having tea in the garden at Billings Estate. This is a once a year event, it is fun as we all dress up, wear our hats and our fascinators. The tent is set-up with round tables covered with linen tablecloths and plates and china teacups. I like that the cups and saucers do not match, I... More

Attended an outdoor wedding here. The grounds are beautiful. They serve high tea. Probably would not have come here if not for the wedding as there are so many other things to see and do in Ottawa.

Loved it and will go back. We went on a rainy day so we couldn't appreciate the grounds fully. Also we want to experience the tea service. But let me tell you this house is special. The history is so palpable you almost fell as if you are trespassing...you must take the guided tour to have a better understanding of... More

We attended a wedding here this past weekend and it was simply beautiful. The surroundings could not have been more perfect. I wish I could have been married outside in this beautiful historic area. Everything was so carefree and easy, even the parking. Loved it!

I took my daughters for a high tea last Sunday. The day was gorgeous, the garden was full of flowers, the service was impeccable. We had chosen the coconut chai, the pear onlong tea and the citrus white tea. They served us each 5 finger sandwiches, one scone with butter and jam, and 5 different sweets. It is my second... More

I had heard many positive things about High Tea at the Billings Estate. It is a lovely location, and certainly has some redeeming qualities. $12.50 is cheap for tea, but hey - you get what you pay for. Unimaginative crustless wonderbread sandwiches with almost no filling. Not too sure if all the little pieces added up to one sandwich. The... More

My other reviews will show I have been to many historic homes, and this is among the worst. ThEre appeared to be few, if any, period pieces. There was some story about the family and some Canadian history. Waste of my time.

We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your visit @SaminDC. A few years ago we made the decision to move away from being a traditional historic house museum, which it sounds like you were expecting. The Billings family lived in this home for nearly 150 years, and their history in the area is even longer than that; we felt that... More

Great local gem! The grounds are pretty, the staff very friendly and professional, and the exhibits and interpretation in the house were more engaging for my family than I had expected. There are interactive elements, and we did the photo scavenger hunt. By the end of our self-guided visit, we had a sense of the generations who had lived there... More

I have been there on quite a few occasions now and the location is just lovely! Summer time Garden Tea parties in a beautiful garden with the heritage house as a backdrop or inside for reception with the smell of old wood. It is very well maintained and the activity coordinators there always greet you with a smile.
