We were in Ottawa for the tulip festival! Parlement was not in session. Surprisingly and sadly, the visit was limited to viewing the chamber of commons through the small windows of the doors and because of an event, the senate room was not open at all to visitors! This was not communicated to visitors when we picked our free tickets... More

I've always wanted to do a tour of parliament. We went on a weekday around lunch to get tickets for that evening. Tour was well worth it and a must see!

Please note after 2017, this will be closed for 10 years for restoration according to our tour guide. The Parliaments architecture is gorgeous. Tickets for tours are free but they sell out quick. You can only get tickets the morning of. Security is very tight and will take 10-20 min to get your whole group through.

You have to go early to get your free tickets. By the time we got there at 10 AM, the next available tour was not till 3 PM. Instead, we got the tickets for the peace tower. Because it was a weekday, it was not too crowded and the views are spectacular! If you are the type that doesn't like... More

Still can't believe the tour was free! We lined up for tickets at about half 8 and there were already about 100 people in front of us. We were seen quickly and managed to get tickets for the 12.20pm tour. While we waited we explored majors hill park and bywater market, both lovely places. The tour was amazing! Our tour... More

Firstly, to book the tour you need to go to the tourist information office directly across from parliament. Get there early. We got there about 10 and didn't get a tour until 18:30. Also, check any large bags at the TI before you go as security is like at an airport. The tour itself is quite interesting but they keep... More
