    Well worth a visit
You can only visit by tour, which I would recommend booking in advance as they book up quickly. The staff were helpful and welcoming and there is a small gift shop to browse whilst waiting for your tour (or afterwards). The tour was really interesting, we saw some of the production happening, (although this isn't guaranteed) and some great exhibits. There are toilets but no cafe or anywhere to get a drink, however it is fairly centrally located so there are places not too far away where you can eat.

    Excellent - a must visit
Visited as a family with our 10 and 12 year olds. We really enjoyed the visit and learnt a lot. Coins were being made on our visit but even if they were not, the guide’s information would have been enough. My children enjoyed the section on Olympic medals and the glow in the dark coin was a hit!

    Interesting visit
We did the booked tour at a reasonable cost of $10. The tour consists of a guide describing each step of the process of minting commemorative coins (circulatory coins elsewhere) at a series of windows looking down at each process. Our guide was enthusiastic and informative. We were especially interested in the large gold coins produced. Whilst waiting for your tour you can view the shop selling coins. No photos are allowed on the tour.

    Show me the Money!
Fascinating! Joined a tour (about 15 folks) and were led into the world of precision medallion making. Very knowledgeable young guide who explained the history of the mint as well as the industrial processes we witnessed. Including good humour and interesting anecdotes. Every Canadian should make the time to visit. Nice little gift shop where you get a wonderful exposure to the various collections the mint has made over the years.

    Very interesting and informative tour!
Our family off four, including two kids 12 and 16, enjoyed the 45-minute guided tour. It was fascinating to learn how advanced our coin-making technology is in Canada and how much we subcontract our services to other countries around the world. Our tour guide Zoe was fantastic and did an excellent job of explaining each step of the production process. One tip... it's a good idea to book your tour in advance. We didn't and were surprised when we arrived and the next tour wasn't available for about three hours. Not a big deal, as there's lot of other stuff to see and do within walking distance, but better to know in advance.

    Amazing Coin Collection
Amazing! And that is even with us only being able to go to the boutique/gift shop. Our short time in Ottawa and our schedule didn't allow us for a tour. There were so many incredible commemorative and collectible coins to see there. The designs are so awesome. Shout out to Christopher for making our experience there so great. He gave us such special attention and explanations on the coin collections in the boutique. We are so grateful for that. Hope to one day make that tour. It's definitely a must when you visit Ottawa.

Interesting, engaging and worth the 45 min tour!
Really interesting tour of the process to make investment and collector coins (circulation is made at the mint in Ottawa). Tour is 45 min’ish, you can see work as it occurs and the guides are excellent at explaining the process. Very engaging - would recommend. A few notes: Tour is walking/standing…not far but a consideration for some. Book ahead!!!!!! Tours fill up, book on website in advance and be flexible with date/times (took us 3 attempts to find an open date/time while we were in town, booked a month before) Boutique sells Canadian memorabilia and coin sets, allow time to browse but it can be busy as tours flow in and out every hour.

    Minty
Hadn't booked, so took a chance and rocked up as it started raining. Fortunately was able to jump straight on a tour. Very knowledgeable tour guide explained all the different stages in the coin making process, pointing out the various machines from the walkway above and used a few props and screens. Absolutely fascinating. No pictures allowed as they are pretty hot on security and keeping their edge as one of the World's top mints.

The guide makes this tour, don’t need the mint to be operating
Fascinating insight into the world of minting. We went on a Sunday so the mint was not operating but the guides descriptions made the trip worthwhile nonetheless. Something different that you may not experience in too many locations

    Lots of money here?!
We did not know you had to book a tour time in advance so do that online before setting out. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We had no idea of the value of investment and collection coins produced here, with the most expensive being a million dollar coin?! It's a quick tour (an hour) and they want you there about 10 minutes before you start as you have to go to the giftshop inside the building to wait.

Snore. Too crowded. Tour groups are so big that you cannot see or hear. The walking tour is down narrow hallways with windows on one side that look down into the workshops. With so many people you cannot see the windows. The guide was informative but I think she was winging it a lot. She was at times rather inaccurate. She was in a hurry and was rude to few guests when they asked her questions.
The gift shop was expensive and pretty lousy.
Overall, I would miss this tour when in Ottawa. Do something else!
