There's a path to walk along the canal from the locks at Ottawa river right up to Dow Lake. Took us just over an hour at gentle pace. Peaceful along the canal and great on a sunny autumn (fall) day. Periodically there are tablets giving...More

Amazing canal system to witness first hand. We were very impressed with the foresight of fellow Canadians in the design of this brilliant canal system way back in the 1800's.

We walked a bit alongside the canal but were disappointed to see that the locks weren’t used as there were 2 boats sitting in them and one was being renovated! The towpath was ok though for walking or cycling along.

Great to see the locks going from the river to the canal. Good views in both directions. You can walk from the canal down the locks to the river and there is a museum at the river end.
