About
The crashing waters of Niagara Falls—comprising two American falls and one Canadian—are truly a sight to behold. Get up close on a boat ride (be prepared to get soaked!), enjoy amazing aerial views from the Skylon Tower or on a helicopter tour, stroll along the White Water Walk, or hit the Journey Behind the Falls attraction that offers views of the falls from below and behind. Adventure seekers can also go zip-lining, jet-boating, hiking and cycling with the falls as the backdrop. For a truly magical experience, stay after dark when the falls are illuminated. For peak water flow, visit between June and August. – Tripadvisor

- RichardPrinceDesborough, United Kingdom438 contributionsLovely place to visit in winter.Traveled in February and the icy scenery made the visit even better. Between 9am and 12pm the place was virtually deserted, it was great. We travelled from Toronto on a FlixBus which dropped us off directly at the falls. This trip was £90 return in total for three of us. Journey time was 1 hour 50 each way. The Skylon tower is worth a trip to get the 360 view of the entire place. This was £32. There were a couple of tourist shops and cafes. We spent around 3 hours at the falls in total for £122. Well worth organising your own trip rather than paying £100s per person.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 February 2024
- Ci_BoessioLajeado, RS329 contributionsBeautiful!Between Iguazu Falls and Niagara Falls, lucky for those who know both! Niagara is much smaller, with fewer falls, but it is still very beautiful. The color of the water is incredible! Unlike Foz, it is not a closed park, meaning you can simply arrive and enjoy the waterfalls for free. During the day, a rainbow often forms near one of the falls, and at night the falls have special lighting, which makes them even more charming. We went on a Saturday, so there were a lot of people, even in winter. If you're in Toronto, be sure to go to Niagara!Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 March 2024
- Dawn A21 contributionsNatural wonder of the world…a must do!If you enjoy nature…..Niagara Falls is a must do! It’s simply breathtaking. I enjoy spending a little more money and getting a hotel with a view. However, there are plenty of things to do for free! Enjoy a stroll through Queen Victoria Park, the gardens there are amazing, stroll along side of the falls (plenty of photo opportunities) or even have a picnic on the well manicured lawns overlooking the falls.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 22 March 2024
- 3000caloriesBuffalo, New York1,787 contributionsGreat photo opsOne of my favorite activities is to see this natural world wonder. The US side is better in terms of communion with nature and proximity to the falls but Canada is better if you just want a great view. Canada side costs more money and is more crowded but is better for your Insta.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 March 2024
- Christian VMetz, France135 contributionsA truly incredible site!!!This stop was part of a discovery tour of Canada. We were delighted with this site. Having a priori at the start, thinking "this is the boat thing that all tourists do", we quickly revised our judgment. It's magnificent, and this power of water is phenomenal. Not to be missed if you are in the area.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 March 2024
- Travel25346533585940 contributionsNiagara Falls, More Than Just WaterNiagara Falls is considered on of Natures Natural Wonders. There are many Higher Waterfalls, it is the Volume of Water that sets Niagara Falls apart. In Addition to the Falls, Niagara has two Casinos. While not Las Vegas they are respectable but mostly convenient. There are plenty of Hotels and Restaurants. We always stay at the Hilton Fallsview.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 March 2024
- José FigueiróPorto Alegre, RS133 contributionsExuberant beauty and a place to take excellent photosIt is worth visiting this extremely visited place full of tourists from around the world. At first on our trip to Canada we didn't go there, but as we had a day off we decided to check it out and it WAS SO worth it. Reasonably cheap hotels, many attractions and restaurants make this destination popular. We took lots of photos (and got a little wet). The city has a Gramado/RS feel, focused 100% on tourismVisited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 March 2024
- Stewarts Vacation1,532 contributionsPinch-me moment! The Niagara Falls ... we had heard so much about them, so to finally see and experience them was a pinch-me moment! The Niagara City Cruises (formerly Maid of the Mist) boat tour was incredible, taking us slowly past the base of the American Falls and into the basin of Horseshoe Falls, through the waterfall spray. Fortunately, the provided rain ponchos kept our clothes dry, as we had opted to stand in the wettest zone! The trip lasted about 20 mins. An excellent way to see the force of the water up close. I would definitely recommend the boat ride to fully experience the falls. A waterproof holder for your camera would be helpful!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 April 2024

There’s so many words to describe other than this magnificent view. It’s up to you to explore it. Mine, it’s just a dream come true. I’m in awe and jaw dropped kind of feeling. To go down the tunnel view below is so exciting and a different experience.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 April 2024

Niagara Falls is astonishing in its power and power, an Attraction you want to see for yourself.
Our itinerary options are: from the parking lot upstream near Tablerock on the waterfront to the marina, a boat ride, a snack in the street cafe on the way out of the marina and back.
Many people, but not too many, perhaps because of the rainy weather on our chosen day. Approaching and looking was easy anywhere.
Now we want to go see Niagara Falls with nightlights.
Important: this is never a romantic walk.
Healthy: food in a street cafe at a fairly affordable price, but having a snack with you is still worth it. After the ship, the clothes get drenched with spray, despite the ponchos.

Without a doubt, Niagara Falls is a natural port, an impressive and magnificent natural spectacle that deserves a visit, but everything that has been mounted around it was grotesque and unbearable. Starting with the hordes of thousands of tourists who hardly allow you to contemplate them, since today it is much more important to take selfies. That is not to mention all those people, in my opinion, very poorly educated who remain sitting with their backs to the cataract but who do not allow those who are arriving new to be able to contemplate them correctly. If you’ve already seen them and you’ve grown tired, please go somewhere else to rest and make room for the rest of the people.
Perhaps most outrageous was the price for parking in the area: 32$ Single rate. It doesn't matter if you're 5 minutes away like you're all day. After some walks around the area we discovered a place where you can park for a reasonable price of 5$/h. It is a small parking and picnic area in the park of the Dufferin Islands, which also has public toilets. From there you can walk about 25 minutes to the falls, but they are very pleasant when you walk along the edge of the river and you can visit the two electric stations next to it.

Certainly, the falls are iconic, but I don’t know that I would make Niagara Falls a destination in and of itself. The Canadian side has really built up the touristy things to include several casinos…depending on your tastes, that’s either a pro or con. The ever-present mist from the falls can severely impact the view. You can get quite close to the edge of the Horseshoe falls, but if you’ve seen other big falls around the world…it’s just ok. I do recommend the falls if you’re making a trip to western New York or the Toronto area (be advised, the falls are about 2 hours from downtown Toronto). Certainly, the boat ride is an interesting perspective if you choose to take a cruise. I also recommend Journey Behind the Falls (I reviewed it separately) to get up close with a different perspective.

Busy August period when we went Fireworks display over the falls at 10.00pm every night. The falls are truly spectacular, the water that never stops and sounds like nothing you have ever heard before.
Ovoid Saturday evening, gets rammed with it being the weekend.
Extremely expensive food outlets, take your own snacks.
See the falls by cruise, Skylon Tower, Journey Behind the Falls, The Tunnel, Helicopter Limited, or just free by standing at the railings. You decide, enjoy it, take in the views.
Make use of the WeGo buses, good value and perfect when the legs get tired.
WEGO have the best friendly staff in the world I believe, thanks for your service.

If you go in offseason (Nov-Mar) or something like that, believe they divert water to use for energy, so think water flow is higher in peak tourist time. October good time, smaller crowds and nice fall colors. Stayed onCanadian side. Did boat tour - go first thing (10am this time of year), get their a bit early, so get on first tour. Will get wet, poncho only covers so much. Then can go to the behind the scenes at 11am. Cruise area, not a lot of parking, may have to pay to park, or buy parking pass ahead of time, and bus over. Parking lot more toward behind the scenes. If had to pick one, do cruise over behind the falls. Still need to go to walkaway along side of the falls. if on USA side, you see water go over (you are more at top of the river) - unless you get to a vista outlook or take a boat. From canada side you see the whole falls and water flowing over and nite lights.

I have been on 4 Diamond Tours with a group called Friends on the Go. All of the trips have been out of St. Louis, MO. The 4 trips have been to Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Martha's Vinyard, and the latest trips to Niagara Falls again in September 2024. I would rate the first 3 trips as a four. This last trip i would rate as a 2. I rationalize the difference in the score based on the service provided by the tour bus driver, who was an outsourced driver from Husky and the Diamon Head Canadian tour guide. First, the tour bus driver was subpar compared to the other trips. He did not perform simple tasks like get ice for the drinks. He did not stop every two hours for bathroom breaks, and lastly, he locked the bathroom on the bus halfway through the trip. Keep in mind that this bus trip consisted of approximately 40+ senior citizens, aged 65 or above. He couldn't keep up with the other bus on the trips, which made us miss out on some planned meals or events. Secondly, the guide provided by Diamond Tours was also subpar. Gloria was nice, but she spoke very broken English, was hard to understand, and was not very flexible in tailoring the vacation for what we wanted. The first time in Niagara Falls, we visited a church that was used by Harriet Tubman in the Underground Railroad. This has great historical significance to African Americans. We made it clear to the guide that we wanted to go here instead of some of the other sites, like the Castle Loma or Queens Park, which have little historical significance. She waited until the last day to say because of traffic we couldn't make it. This should have been made a priority by the guide.

The Falls are spectacular. Best view is from the Canadian side. There is a short boat tour that takes you to the base of the falls which is a must. The city centre is much like an amusement park so less appealing to adults but would greatly entertain any children. For adults, I recommend a short trip (20 mile) to a nearby town called Niagara on the Lake. Travel there along the river for best views.

It is has the tourist attraction. But you also have to see that it is a rip-off.
Let's start with the journey
from Toronto. We would always recommend arriving individually. You don't know how long you want to stay.
You can travel by bus or train, organized or unorganized.
We chose the train because you can... There is no traffic jam and you also sit more comfortably on the train. The journey takes 2 hours, the trains cannot always run quickly. You should buy group tickets as a family online beforehand. We paid 40 dollars, about 27 euros, for a day ticket.
When you finally arrive, a tourist bus takes you directly to the main attraction. The outward journey is free, the return journey is $8 each.
We have picture-perfect weather in March
Been there for about an hour, then went back. Apart from the falls themselves, it's pretty ugly there. Basically everything from the casino to the fairground was built around the falls. Of course you can go for a little walk on the US side, which isn't all that great.
But you can also leave it alone. Therefore, if you are a little tourist-averse, don't plan too much time.

A marvel, absolutely worth seeing. We did the boat tour and the visit behind the waterfalls, if you take the boat you can avoid doing the walking tour behind the waterfalls. The city of Niagara is also beautiful to see and is in fact a large open-air amusement park.

The view of Niagara Falls was absolutely spectacular. We captured some breathtaking shots from our hotel room and even more incredible ones up close. Visiting in July was vibrant and lively, with the area bustling with activity. However, when we returned in November, it was a completely different experience—quieter and more serene. The colder weather meant fewer crowds, making it easier to take in the beauty of the falls without feeling packed in, unlike the summer months when it’s jam-packed.

Hi. I am looking to travel to Niagara Canada side next month with a group of 4. Three older women and 1 millennial.
We are not interested in most of the touristy stuff in Clifton Mill but I was thinking of going to the following
1. Table Rock welcome center
2. Hornblower boat
3. Maple syrup factory
4 one person is going to home Glen trail
Is there anything I didn’t mention that is a must do for first time in Canada and first time to falls?? We only will have 24 hours here. I am planning on a day trip outside of Niagara for the day and haven’t decided if we are going to NOTL or Toronto.
I also heard Lundy Lane is the place to get food. What recommendations do you have for that?
Thank you so much for your help and time
