Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After biking from Lake Ontario Park, we stopped at the waterfront for a rest. We bought lunch from a sausage vendor and enjoyed it on a bench facing the water. Got some excellent tourist info from the booth set up there! Fountain and flowers were beautiful. I always love seeing all provincial flags displayed. Many people enjoyed the space, but not too crowded that we felt unsafe. "Kingston" sign is always a fun pic!

Overall a very nice waterfront town, very walkable, beautiful, with loads of restaurants, walking paths. Reminds me a bit of Old Montreal, just without the medieval feeling little side streets. I liked the various seating areas everywhere, even in the centre square, where anyone could sit under an umbrella and enjoy everything going on around them.
There was the odd musician that appeared, but many many more would be great, buskers too. As I was driving away, I saw a farmer's market appear and i'm sad that I didn't see it while I was walking around (mind you, it was a holiday).
The one reason I probably wouldn't return however, is that everything is incredibly expensive. I had wings/fries/wine and after my tip I was at $34. This is insane. It's more expensive than Switzerland or Toronto or places you would expect to be expensive. My hotel (delta) was total robbery, and not even luxurious.

This is a worthwhile place to put you feet up. You can lay in the grass or enjoy an Adirondack chair graciously provided by the city. It is an historic site with some interesting and informative panels explaining key aspects of Kingston's past.

We were part of a bus tour that stayed in the Holiday inn next to the park. We also enjoyed a cruise on the Island Queen and there is a large marina next to the park. The park has plenty of benches and shady trees which is a relief from the heat. There is a large pool with water display. The park has a locomotive from the past. There is a tourist information center located in the former train station, under the station there is a washroom. Visited the information center where you can find out about tourist attractions in Kingston and there is a small gift shop where I purchased t-shirts. Great park and a nice place to relax and watch the small boats.

The waterfront is beautiful. Tons of shops and places to eat. An abundance of benches and muskoka chairs where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the view. During our visit, the city was hosting a blues concert that was free and was enjoyable even though the weather that day was less than ideal. Other cities should take note....this is how it's done!

The waterfront has many restaurants nearby. There was a Corvette day where over 500 cars filled downtown.
Lots to do. Lots to see. A lot of great architecture, old homes. Lot of pubs and ice cream/gelato stores.

Pleasant seafront to walk to the ferry/ferry, then less pleasant
Numerous buildings and parks to discover along the way: superb walk!
The return can be made via the pretty, and small, “lively” city center
A little half a day will be enough but it's worth doing!
Superb stopover halfway between Montreal and Toronto

Beautiful area and met the town cryer ‘Chris’ who told us a lot of great stories about the city.
Beautiful on a sunny day and close to the square.
Pity there are so many people around begging.

It was a beautiful fall day and we really enjoyed our walk on the waterfront. Everything looks great and clean around the waterfront. There are plenty of shops, but we didn't go in (trying to avoid public places because of Covid), but it was nice to walk around.

Small town full of history whose waterfront is pleasant for a small walk. Letters from the city to make fun photos. Do not hesitate to walk the small streets of the city center also.

Looking for a well recommended paved cycling path in Kingston,
Written 16 May 2019
Not sure if there are bike paths but believe there is. I know there are some along the park on the lake downtown.

Just wondering if anyone know of a good well recommended paved cycling path in Kingston.
Written 16 May 2019
There is a pathway along the waterfront that is good, with some interruptions but good. Especially at the park along Lake Ontario.

Hi. I've been looking at the options for lunch and dinner while we visit this city for one day in July. It seems like there's only breweries but not real restaurants. Can you recommend any places that have menus other than bar food? THX!

Wednesday nights Fort Henry does a sunset ceremony, the market square always has stuff going on; markets, bands, movies(bring your own chairs). There's also the trolley tours of Kingston. K-passes are great to purchase they include a cruise ride of the 1000 Islands and the hop on/off trolley tour (includes admission to some locations) King Penn tour is fantastic but book ahead for that, they sell out quick! Otherwise walking around the city is fun too. Lots of shops and patios to visit.
