Fantastic - well worth a visit
Aug. 2019
Visited for the first time today, staff were extremely friendly & helpful. Cider samples were great. Baked goods were a surprise - very tasty. Fabulous place for a special event. There was a wedding taking place this afternoon, what a wonderful place for a wedding..this place is a real jewel. Highly recommend.

Fantastic cider, staff and vibe
Jul. 2019 • Couples
This is my first review, after three visits. One time was just to see it and buy a bottle, one time was for an awesome special event and this time was just a normal visit for a tasting. Love the vibe here and the staff is great. We tasted about nine different delicious ciders ... so fun to taste the varieties of cider!! This is a place we will visit over and over again ... do a tasting, hang out, buy some cider to enjoy at home. I am glad it is close to home, but it is definitely worth the drive from farther afield. Cheese plate was delicious too!

Good selection
Jun. 2019 • Friends
attended an outdoor wedding here with 180 guests & impressed by the selection of good ciders. Friendly, efficient staff & a large bar. Good venue for an outdoor wedding as the cider 'house' is large enough for dancing & has several washrooms. Grass & setting is good & the grass drains quickly if it rains the day prior to a wedding.

Surprisingly terrific cider tasting, cheese plate, place to relax
Jun. 2019 • Friends
On one of very few hot days this spring, my daughter and I visited the West Avenue Cider House, purchased two cider tastings (3 servings from their surprisingly large selection, each serving about 2 ounces), shared a lovely cheese plate, sat outside in a pleasant farm-like setting and really relaxed. The Cider selection is surprisingly broad with excellent products that would please people who usually prefer wine or beer. I usually prefer wine but really liked several of their ciders. The cheese plate was literally picture perfect, great local cheeses, and just enough for two people to share. We sat at a table under a shady lanai. As this place becomes more known they will have to add more shady-area seating.

Huge selection of ciders
May 2019 • Couples
We stopped recently at West Avenue Cider for tastings and pick up some cider. West Avenue has a large and varied menu of ciders to enjoy. We had a couple tasting flights of ciders and our favorites were the Heritage dry and Cherriosity. My wife also like the Ruud Barb and William Perry. West Avenue has a beautiful tasting bar and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful location. I must for any beer/cider tour in the area

Lots of really yummy ciders to try. There's something for everyone. The outside area is perfect for tasting. Lots of space and just surrounding countryside and orchards in sight. The inside is beautifully done too. There's cider goodies and more to purchase there including some really nice breads/bakery items. Make sure you put this on your tour list.

The only place to try a large variety of West Avenues ciders
May 2018 • Friends
There is hip bar at which you can buy flights of West Avenue ciders. A shop, at which you can buy West Avenue ciders, and a small variety of local produce.
The shop also sells growlers, and I think I noticed that some folks came buy and had those refilled.
But there's not much else.

Upon arrival, we were directed out the back to table under a red tent, and were able to sample two ciders for free. It turned out the two people at that table were in fact the owners, Chris Haworth (I hope that's the correct spelling - there is more than one used in articles in the internet) and Amy Robson.
Chris and Amy explained their concept and outlined their exciting plans for the future, most notably to source more apples from orchards of their own and to be able to provide food at this location at some point.
There was no tour as such, but we were able to walk around and have a look at a warehouse were you get a hint of how many varieties of previously used barrels are being utilized, and how the cider is stored to aged it. I was informed that the real production is done on a more industrial scale in a warehouse in Hamilton, so unless you ask, it seemed you don't get to see, or learn, much about cider making at this location.
The staff at the bar couldn't tell us much about how the ciders were produced. There are hints in some of the names - obviously different varieties and mixes of apples, and other fruit, and previously used barrels (so contributing a variety of wine, or whisk(e)y, etc. colours and flavours), but apparently Chris keeps this information to himself and the production staff.
After buying a couple of flights shared between three people - so we got to taste everything available - I did go back out to the table to ask Chris a question, but he was not giving anything away.
I found the music in the beautiful tasting bar too loud and on the whole, the experience was rather underwhelming.
I like my cider to taste of apple and my perry to taste of pear. West Avenue ciders are in a league of their own - much more subtle flavours than the big commercial brands - more in the direction of fine wine or champagne than traditional British or Irish ciders, maybe closer to French and Spanish ciders, but the words that fit best are probably unique and small batch.
They've won lots of awards so I was curious to try more of their ciders, and this is certainly the place to do it.
At the moment I'd say this is an incomplete experience.
It could also be that we were there at a odd time, as it looks like the place is set up to do tours, and also to host events.

Large selection of ciders

West Avenue Cider house is an amazing place to try some of their many ciders. West Avenue has several different and unique ciders to enjoy in a beautiful tasting bar. We had a couple tasting flights to try the many ciders. We enjoyed the Heritage dry and their Cherriosity as our favorites. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the many ciders. We left with a few bottles and will be back again.
