About
Bangor Vineyard Shed is a cellar door and farm gate shop brimming with cool climate Bangor wines, freshly shucked oysters and local food. Perched on a hill beside the vineyard, at Bangor, what you enjoy is harvested from the vines and the sea before you. Cozy up by the fire in winter or around a picnic table in summer and you'll understand what Tasmania is all about; fine oysters and wine, sweeping views and a rural welcome that'll make you want to stay a while.

We’ve been coming here annually since it opened. Met friends for lunch who had been oversold by our praises in the past. The restaurant was busy on a Wednesday, their Pinot Gris on point. But. The fish and chips was dry and ordinary, the abalone on toast overcooked and miserable, the oysters were creamy but not prime, no ozone smells,a salmon gravlax was too cold, too sweet and tasteless except for the sugar, even the oil and vinegar dip for the bread was sickly sweet.
Only the marinated olives and the pleasant waitresses made the lunch bearable. $180 for four and we were grumpy and still hungry.

Wow! Do not miss Bangor on your Tassie food and wine trail! The eggplant was so soft and buttery, the mussels were in a sauce to-die-for. Kids meals were huge, so nice to see a pesto pasta…something a little different after usually just seeing hot chips. The space is idillic and service was on pointe. We are not one for a doggy bag but we couldn’t part with the leftover pumpkin hummus. The wines were also delicious…although as I driver I look forward to a better sample at our next accommodation!

What a gem of a find this place was. My wife and I were coming back from a day out at Port Arthur. It was 3pm and we were looking for somewhere on the way back to Hobart to catch a very late lunch when we came across Bangor Vineyard Shed. We are so glad we stopped here.
The location is beautiful. Water views to the right and left as you sit there in their outdoor eating are overlooking the waterways and their vineyard.
Apart from the location being amazing, the wines we tried were excellent, especially their Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.
The food was fresh and modern and very delicious. They had a venison burger on the menu which was incredibly tasty.
Even if I was back in Hobart again, I would happily do the 1 hour drive to this place. Have visited many wineries over the years and this was one of the most memorable ones.

The BEST wine we had in Tassie. The story telling from our host (Kalon?) on both the wine and area history was next level. And did I mention the view? Stunning! I’m so glad we randomly stopped here, but you should definitely add it to your itinerary.

Winery and bistro type lunch with amazing tomato and saffron mussels. Some good wines incl the barrel aged pinot gris. Views of bay. Managed to call 30 min ahead to book Monday lunch table without problems. But could have walked in also. There is separate wine tasting area. Table, bar seating, verandah seating. Both alfresco and covered. Forgot one of two of our orders but otherwise okay service.

Called in for a special lunch for our 37th Anniversary and we blown away from service, food and ambience.
Oysters were HUGE, for some may be too large, but fresh and I had them plain. Wife had salmon pate - so much pate.
I had quail salad - lovely flavours, but was a little light if you were hungry. We fe had the lamb and that was the best by far.
Topped off with a sparkling and a Pinot Gris.
Recommend - but best to book, glad we did as it was busy.

We dropped by this place by accident and it became the hype of the holiday. Fantastic view and great atmosphere. We sat on the deck overlooking the vineyards and the water sipping the local Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Both very enjoyable. Matt the owner gave us an interesting insight of the place and the surroundings.
This place made the holiday.

I recently visited the newly opened Bangor Wine and Oyster Shed for lunch with friends and family and would highly recommend it if you are in the area.
The first thing to mention is the stunning location. The driveway goes up past the lush green vineyard to arrive on the crest of a hill with panoramic views of the bay's, beaches and bushland surrounding this modern building which tastefully blends in to the landscape.
The interior again blends modern design with pleasingly rustic touches such as the large wooden roof struts which we were told were all harvested on the fully working farm. Lots of big picture windows allowed in light and again showcased the stunning views.
The menu was mostly about seafood but why not when Tasmania has some of the best oysters mussels etc. in the world. My wife and I shared the seafood platter matched with a bottle of the Chardonnay. It was wonderful to be able to see the bay where the oysters are farmed and to see the grapevines where the Chardonnay is grown. I would have liked the option of french fries (I just love fries with mussels) or a little more bread but this is my only criticism.
We also had 2 young children in our party and they had a great time playing outside on the lawns and in the big sandpit.
Highly recommended and best of luck with this new enterprise Bangor Wine and Oyster Shed.

We stopped by for brunch and wine tasting on our way to Port Arthur and were pleasantly surprised. The views out the back of the restaurant were breathtaking, and while the food was nothing special, the wine tasting experience more than made up for it. The lady that entertained us was genuinely warm and friendly, taking the time to tell us about the winery. The wines were not bad too, we came away with a couple bottles.
