Great way to see the harbour and the 2 cities. You can also see the 2 bridges that span the harbour. Cost about 3 dollars and ride last about 20 minutes. You can catch the ferry at Alderney Landing on the Dartmouth side. If the weather is great you can sit outside on the top deck. The ride allows you... More

This is a walk-on ferry used mainly by working individuals, but great scenic views for visitors in the summer months.

We hopped on the ferry on a whim. It was a rainy day but we enjoyed the nice views of the harbour. The sailing was smooth with no waves.

This is a very cheap and fun way to see the Halifax Harbour. You can use a city bus ticket or just pay cash fare which is less than $3.00 for an adult. You can sit up on the top deck, or if the weather is not good, just ride downstairs in comfort. At the Dartmouth end you have to... More

The ferry is a great way to see the Halifax and Dartmouth skylines and city coastline. It is inexpensive at $2.50 (less for kids) and you get a time based transfer good for your return. The ferry is best in warm and clear weather, though I've been outside in the winter on sunny days. Downtown Dartmouth has a lot of... More

It is about a 7 minutes ride. You can get off and explore both sides of the harbor. You have to choice of sitting inside and enjoying the trip or going upstairs and enjoy the outdoors while you view the beautiful harbor.

you'll do well to take a ride on the Halifax/Dartmouth ferry. The view from the water is fabulous. Get great fresh Nova Scotian air.

So I understand it to be part of the city's transit system but I never commuted on it yet. We park on Dartmouth side, where there is a playground, let the kids play then hop the ferry to Halifax to walk the waterfront or go eat. Since you can't go anywhere, similar to a train, we stop and talk and... More

I chose a cold sunny day for my trip and it was lovely to look back and see downtown Halifax. There was a farmers' market on, lots of breads and vegetables and even a band. The ferry costs $2.50 return so could hardly be cheaper, the blokes who run it are very nice and it goes every half hour.

For 2.25, you get an amazing view of Halifax. Highly recommend taking the Woodside ferry and having lunch at John's Lunch.
