We visited during the annual Cold Waters Seafood Festival in June, when many of the local sea farmers are on-site serving up their super fresh seafood. Its a great time to meet the local sea farmers, chat to local residents and indulge in mussels, clams,...More

What a fun time we had learning to dig for clams with the fam! I have a whole new respect for the labour involved in harvesting these little guys. Our hosts were wonderful. We returned to tour this wonderful village and thoroughly enjoyed it. A...More

I stopped by for lunch with a friend - it was in character with the historic nature of the Village and the chef was charming and helpful. (Basically a bunk house canteen, with food, dishes, furnishings all in tune with the theme)

The hand-on aspect of this attraction really appealed to my daughter and I. We read books in the schoolroom and tried out the antique typewriter. We played the pump organ in the sitting room and gave a sermon in the church. We lifted an ice...More

The hands-on aspect is what makes Memory Lane Heritage Village truly a "stroll back in time". Thanks for the review!

Historical villages tend towards the 19th century and that's incredibly valid and fun. I loved that this property is about a more contemporary period. Each building has been saved from demolition and brought to the site, restored and appointed with fantastic ephemera. Motion sensors cause...More

Most of our buildings were indeed moved onto the site from the surrounding communities. The name Memory Lane Heritage Village came out of the fact that the site is within living memory of many of our visitors and members of the community. We are very...More

I love a museum where you can touch things, and there are plenty of things you can touch and hold here. You can sit behind the desks in the school, you can climb inside the vintage Ford car, you can sound an alarm to warn...More

Giving a hands-on experience once inside the Village enhances the feel of stepping back in time. Our guides are volunteers from the local community who lived the life we portray. They are excited to share their knowledge and memories with visitors, and often especially so...More

We are staying in Dartmouth, where the early morning fog today was so thick we could hardly see across the street. It had lifted into a blue sky by noon when we reached Memory Lane village, but the weather may have kept the number of...More

We try to keep everything hands-on for our visitors, with no ropes or glass cases, so you really get the impression that you are taking a stroll back in time! Thank you so much for taking the time to review our site. We love hearing...More

Easy for seniors to see the 18 locations in the compact village highlighting the 1940s. As you enter a site, like the kitchen, sound effects add to the atmosphere. There is a cookhouse with a menu but check the hours first. Very clean and informative.

We were on the final leg of our trip to the Canadian Maritimes and stopped at this location. I'm glad we did. Beautiful representations of a 1940's village. Old cars, old buildings, nice folks in period costumes. Stopped by the Cookhouse for some coffee and...More
