On a day trip we had only time for the special exhibition of Maud Lewis art A's cottage. The paintings of bright happy folk art is a triumph of creative endeavour over adversity. Many of her paintings and the tiny cottage where she lived assets...More

An OUTSTANDING collection of woodblock prints by Hiroshige...The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido. A fine selection of the Group of Seven and Arthur Lismer's legacy in Nova Scotia. Very good selection of fashion and costume design in Paris and Halifax...paintings, drawings, ceramics. The Ferguson, Hartley,...More

The art here is one of a kind. We particularly enjoyed the Maud Lewis exhibit. There's so much variety in the art shown here. There's photography, paintings and mixed media. We really like what we saw. The bulk of the works here are paintings, but...More

Definitely worth visiting on the free night! Cloakroom to leave bags etc. Friendly and helpful staff. The Maudie Lewis section with her original house was amazing!

We spent a few hours here on a rainy day. The Maud Lewis exhibit was very interesting. We had Julie as our tour guide and she was fun and thoughtful. The receptionist was also very friendly and gave a great dinner recommendation.

The AGNS was a very pleasant surprise. Housed in two buildings it offers a comprehensive permanent collection plus a pir of very good temporary exhibits. Excellent staff!

As art galleries go, this gallery is hardly world class. For a small city, is is very nice. They have a jaw-dropping Alex Colville painting involving the Ocean train, and a fine Norval Morrisseau. The Maud Lewis exhibition is good, if you are interested in...More
