- santa002Dubai, United Arab Emirates140 contributionsLovely Pre Christmas LunchWent Sunday just before Christmas for their Light Bite Lunch.... Beautifully decorated tree, real fire outside and a lovely platter of meats and local cheeses all accompanied by a flight of wines. Andrew our host for the afternoon was a pleasure to meet, very professional with just the right level of attention... I so hate it when someone asks how the meal is every minute.. Everything would be 5 stars had the room not felt as though the air con was on in mid December, but that did not spoil a lovely lunch, blanket provided if you want to sit by the open fire.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 December 2023
- TinaLouiseTravellerPeterborough, Canada11 contributionsDefinitely will returnThis vineyard was also on our tour with the Magic Winery Double Decker bus from Wolfville. It is so close to Wolfville where we were staying. We were led down to a beautiful wine cellar which was cool, complete with huge barrels, gorgeous decorative chandeliers and 2 x 25 person long table's for lunch. This would be a perfect venue for weddings. Kevin was excellent at explaining the wine they served. Julian also recommended a bubbly white for me as I enjoy prosecco. It was good enough to buy a couple of bottles to enjoy. Between my sister and husband and myself, we enjoyed, charcuterie pizza, cheese pizza and a kale caesar salad. All were fresh with locally grown items and delicious. My husband requested a coffee and some "baileys" and Kevin went out of his way to make it happen. He introduced my husband to their own version of Baileys which was sweeter but delicious. The washrooms were clean, the grounds were extensive with many sitting areas and outdoor massive fireplace for the cooler seasons. The store carried all of their wines and there was a lot of help choosing which ones to buy. Of the 4 wineries that we visited, this was my favourite. The staff, the ambiance, the meal, the gardens and surroundings were perfection. We will definitely return.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 June 2024
- roadwearytravellerSault Ste. Marie, Canada280 contributionsThis place is Great!!The absolute best. This is well worth the trip if visiting Halifax. Wolfville is a gorgeous town and this little winery tucked away is a hidden gem. The views from the outdoor patio are superb. Their house made wine is so good. I can imagine lunch would be as well. If I'm ever in the area will definitely return.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 2 July 2024

We stopped in for lunch and were promptly seated at a table that was much too small for four people and which became increasingly crowded as we ordered food and drinks. The table also wobbled and was regularly visited by flies so we felt somewhat uncomfortable throughout our meal. Our server was very pleasant but not well trained in the art of foodservice and unfamiliar with the menu content and ingredients. The food was served quickly and apart from the poorly prepared kale salad was of reasonably good quality. The highlight was a dish of peas (actually super snaps) and we can recommend the wood fired pizzas. As this is a winery suggest sticking to wine as my 6oz glass of cider was a flavourless disappointment and considerably overpriced. This experience did not match up to lunches we have enjoyed in other Wolfville wineries.

The tasting area was not crowded and we got a seat quite quickly. Our server was pretty good; they were serving others or occupied in some other way but were present enough to engage with questions and suggestions. The service was good and the checkout person was very friendly.
I liked the Ancienne Chardonnay (2017) enough to buy a couple of bottles. I tried the cans of bubbly rose but they tasted like bad grappa to me. Some people really like the taste but I find it off and a little harsh.
The grounds are quite nice and the whole building is luxurious.

Visited with my wife, mom, and brother for their tasting and a dinner afterwards. The wines were good, although fairly pricey. The tasting was very quick and less detail was “pushed” to us when compared to other tastings I’ve had. The property and views were beautiful and we went for a walk around the grounds prior to dinner. The food at the restaurant was outstanding; I had the buttermilk fried chicken (a special of the day) which was very crispy and juicy on the inside, while everyone else had pizza, which was thin crust and flavourful. The olives and almonds to snack on at the start were also unique and delicious.

Beautiful location, excellent pizza and good service. We were not hopeful of a place to sit as we hadn’t made a reservation, and were pleasantly surprised when we got a table as soon as we walked in. The server was nice and polite and attended to us immediately.
Our pizza took a little less than 10 minutes and was bloody delicious, probably the best pizza we have had in whole of HRM. We ordered the Canadian - Crusty thin wood fired base, marianara sauce, mozza, onions, mushrooms and bacon. The signature tasting flight was okay as we have had better wine.
The only disappointing item was $10 for a 6 oz glass of an average cider.
The desserts were good too, we tried cannoli and panna cotta, both were light, fresh and not overly sweet.
Overall a very good experience, and i will definitely visit again.

We visited in May 2019. It was a mostly rainy day, and not the busy season, so the wine bus was not crowded. The building is impressive, and the landscape is absolutely stunning. The outdoor pizza oven is amazing. We enjoyed wine and a pizza in the huge tent. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Currently this is my favorite NS vineyard.

The Lightfoot and Wolfville is a lovely spot. Beautiful view of Blomidon and the main building is gorgeous with well-appointed displays of wines and gifts. I was there with my granddaughter this past Thursday for a late lunch. We shared garllc fingers and a summer vegetable salad. I added chicken to the salad. I don't really drink so we never tasted their wines, although I hear they are very good. The garlic fingers were delicious. The spring vegetable salad was also very good, with fresh baby greens and nice crisp vegetables, accompanied by a honey dijon dressing. The only letdown was the chicken that I added. It was slightly overcooked and dry. Not worth the extra $6.00 to my mind. In spite of that, it was an enjoyable and relaxing lunch on their lovely, airy patio. A nice respite on a very hot day. The waitstaff and host were very friendly and welcoming. The vineyard is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. If you go, definitely try the garlic fingers.

Thank you for your visit and note- we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit. We will make note about the chicken to correct that in the future. We hope to see you again sometime soon!

Lightfoot vineyard & restaurant is an amazing spot, a definite highlight in Wolfville! Dine outdoors under the large white tent ( or on the grass on picnic tables if you have a pet with you) The view of the vineyards, Blomidon & the Minas Basin is fantastic! It is best to make a reservation & the food is definitely worth it. We were a group of seven & everyone had rave reviews of their food. The antipasto plate, the charcuterie & cheese, the chowder, the wood fired pizza, the wagyu burger & the tiramisu doughnut were all great! All staff were friendly & welcoming but Andrew , our server went above & beyond to guide us through choices & provide us with information on the immediate area & beyond. We definitely recommend at least one stop here!

After a week in the area and many winery visits, Lightfoot & Wolfville was our favourite overall experience. We had booked a private tasting followed by a lunch reservation which made the experience all the better not only because Hannah guided us through a lovely tasting in their private tasting room but because we could then flow straight out to lunch on the patio without waiting. It is a busy spot and I imagine if you ever plan just to stop by on the weekend and spontaneously do a tasting or have lunch, you will spend time waiting. Plan ahead! Our pizzas were delicious, the wine fantastic and walking around the property afterwards appreciated. All the staff we came in to contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The view is fantastic, the building/property design so smart, worth the visit. It will be on our list of must-dos the next time we are in the area.

Don't make the mistake of ever going here on a weekend. We had relatives from Cape Breton and BC with us---so 5 people in total. We had already visited Lucketts and Mercators in the area. We didn't want to eat but just have a wine tasting. We were told there would be a wait but not given any other guidance. People were all just standing around randomly. Eventually someone came up to the people ahead of us and said it would be at least an hour for a tasting. Not acceptable. It was a weekend and they should have been more prepared for tasting as it was a busy weekend in the valley. We still bought some overpriced wine but not impressed. I would recommend all the other wineries in the valley. This was our first time to this establishment and will probably be our last.

This is modern winery restaurant shop and tasting wine bar - beautifully designed spacious high ceilinged with outdoor terrace and fire pit with wonderful views over the estuary.
We had a wonderful fresh greek salad as we wanted a light lunch but there many other options on the menu.
The service was efficient professional and informative We were told that their wines were quite acidic due to the terroir locally but shared a glass of their pinot noir which was rather nondescript if you judge it from a French and New Zealand pinot noir perspective.

Hello, although it is not necessary to make a reservation for our patio dining, it is recommended especially during these busy days! We hope to see you soon.
