On the south shore of St John’s harbour the only road follows along the harbour. Spectacular views across to St John’s and Signal Hill. It is about a ten minute walk from the small parking lot to the lighthouse but it is worth it to...More

Small lighthouse with limited access. Chain link fence had a hole in it so we were actually able to get closer than normally allowed. Not much to see but has a good view of St. John's. Lots of walking trails around this area.

It was very enjoyable here. Quiet walk, not a lot of people around (we went mid morning, weekday). Clean area except some graffiti. Great views, cute lighthouse. Good spot to watch boats coming in.

We wanted to visit the whole place but due to the poor parking situation and my father's disability we were only able to see a portion of the site.

We stayed at the lighthouse homes for a week. The views were fantastic, the lodging was perfect. Picked blueberries for breakfast, bought cod from the incoming fishing boats, and enjoyed the passing boats and changing weather scenes from the ideal location.

Taking the short drive to Fort Amherst is worth the time. No parking so be prepared to walk some. The views from the fort are breathtaking, both of the Atlantic and St. John's.

Fort Amherst is on the opposite side of the harbour entrance from Signal Hill, so to get there you have to walk/drive along the fairly industrial area opposite Water St. We chose to walk. It's probably not a walk that will appeal to everyone &...More
