With several trails to chose from the signal hill hiking trails offer up plenty of views and charm. The main hike from the tower to the battery is approx 3 km in length and would roughly take 1 hr to do. highly recommend.

We took the easy walk from the visitor center parking lot up to Cabot Tower on Signal Hill. It was a very windy day. Happened to be there after 11am and were there for the noon firing of the cannon from the Tower - very cool! Really fascinating spot of history for St. John's, well told through signage on top... This is worth the short drive out of St Johns. It is easily accessible, and you get great views from the top of the hill. The tower was built around 1900, and is now a museum Marconi made his first wireless transmission from here in 1901. There are also interpretation boards at the top.

Iconic, historic, and breathtaking. For the brave of heart, take the narrow cliffside hike to the summit, high above St. John's Harbour.

The views really are spectacular. You can either drive all the way to the top, walk a short trail from a mid-point or take the longer trail which is a more aggressive walk (lots of stairs), which is worth the effort and rewards you with spectacular vistas around every corner.

What a view! Take a climb up to the top of the tower for a view over St. Johns. There"s a nice walking trail along the rock cliffs for those who want a beautiful short hike.

Go there for the history and a great view of the harbour - pretty at night since you can see everything lit up.
