Majestic
Aug. 2021
Majestic Anglican cathedral church in downtown Fredericton was consecrated in 1853. It is built in the Gothic Revival style. I did not go in – it was closed when I passed, but I did view the interior online. The cathedral was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1983. It is the only Cathedral in Canada that is not itself a parish.

Beautiful architecture!

We did a self-guided walking tour of the historic district over lunch and this was certainly a highlight of the walk. Adjacent to a green area and close to downtown.

Gorgeous and uplifting place, wonderful concerts
Jun. 2019 • Solo
The building is gorgeous and full of history, with lovely and uplifting atmosphere. The surroundings are beautiful too. After the afternoon concert on a Friday you can take a tour of the cathedral and then stroll along the river and across the bridge to the north side of Fredericton. Support the cathedral to preserve and celebrate out history and culture, and this wonderful landmark of Fredericton.

Beautiful stained glass
May 2019 • Couples
Unusual to be able to walk in with no one in the church. Built in the 1850’s and modelled after a much older church in England, the stained glass in particular is very beautiful. Located near the Beaverbrook Gallery continue walking down the river along Woodstock Way to see some beautiful homes.

An amazing building in an amazing setting

Well worth a stop and visit. This cathedral is well maintained. Great place to spend a few hours to visit the building and rest in the park-like entourage next to the beautiful Saint John River and The Green.

Outstanding architecture
Jun. 2018 • Couples
Beautiful, graceful and imposing all at the same time. The church stands in a large green space near the St John river. The lack of anything around it makes it look even larger than it is. Worth taking a detour from the walking path along the river to look at the Cathedral from all sides.
