We stayed up here in September 2016 with the temperature around -4°C when we arrived late in the evening. It was dark and we'd hiked up the steep forest trail for the past three hours. In the morning we awoke to clear blue skies, the...More

Very steep hike up to a spectacular glacial lake. It is quite steep, nearly 4000 ft elevation gain in less than 4 miles. Hike is mainly in forest w/o views, until last 1000 ft or so, where it is almost a scramble up steep rock,...More

This is one of the steepest hikes I have ever done... 4000' in 4.4 miles (1220 meters in 7km). But it was worth every step.

I really enjoyed this hike, nature there is beautiful. Went sooner so it was nicely chilly under the trees instead of hot summer weather everywhere else. Lake is amazing, there are spectacular views and no crowds because hike is not suitable for kids.
