Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

native flora, no charge. Lovely little oasis. Keep little children close, as there are blind corners and a pond. Sweet little place to walk about

We enjoy touring the many public gardens in Victoria. This is not one of the more spectacular gardens although the bamboos are impressive.
Quiet and relaxing. Not heavily staffed. Unfortunately it was closed for a time during the pandemic.

Finnerty Gardens is lovely in all seasons but is a must-see during rhododendron and azalea season (April-June). The colour and size of the rhododendrons is incredible. It is a very peaceful sanctuary to walk through and enjoy.

full of plants that have experienced many years, planted so long ago, lovingly cared for by volunteers; very quiet + peaceful, free entrance, need to pay for parking but definitely worth it.

Finnerty Gardens is another of Victoria's treasures. You could spend as little as 15 minutes or up to a couple of hours walking around, and there is always something in bloom, no matter what the season. Also a nice quiet place to just sit and read a book.

We have visited this lovely place during my last stay in Canada, and it was beautiful and peaceful enough to choose it as the place of our civil ceremony. The area by the pond was my favourite, and it also photographs really well.

While visiting my my daughter at UVIC I had some extra time and walked the Finnerty gardens just inside the gates of UVIC. As a west coast gardener I was so impressed with the variety of beautiful garden specimens. Little ponds, quiet forest paths and birdsong to fill the soul! Check it out

Seeing as it was too far for us to make it out to the "other" gardens while in Victoria, my friend and I went to Finnerty Gardens on the local bus instead. And we are so glad we did. It was lovely and quiet and not at all crowded. The blooms were wonderful. Well worth the trip.

$3 to park and no entrance fee. A lovely place to spend an hour or so. Very diverse group of plants. Something will be in bloom any time from Spring to Fall.

Another garden oasis in the city not to be missed. I went on a Twilight Walk with the Oak Bay Community Association which started at Henderson Rec and went through the beautiful gardens at UVIC. It was an interpretive walk and very enjoyable. The gardens have a plethora of plants and trees but the rhodos are absolutely spectacular.. The handkerchief tree was also "in bloom", and I had never heard of this tree never mind seen one. The entire evening/walk was thoroughly enjoyable and I recommend this diversion to everyone. It's quite a shady walk so would be nice on a warm summer day. Take a book and enjoy the setting. There is no charge for the garden experience but the parking is not free.
