Its a lovely place to stop and close to town (easy to walk to) but gets very busy and is an active prayer space.

Wonderful cathedral with live bellringers every Sunday. Open to the public for tours and intersting concerts.

We happened upon Christ Church Cathedral before 9:00 on a Sunday morning. The bells were ringing! A man in front of the church was handing out service bulletins. He told me we could go up to the bell tower to watch the bell ringers! We...More

This was once the tallest building in the city! It's built on a hill - but most visitors wouldn't know that because the city has grown up around it. Wonderful music on Sundays - but there is also Evensong on other evenings. Check out their...More

We happened to hear about this cathedral and saw it while driving by. When we walked in, we were amazed at the grandeur and sheer size of this cathedral. What was amazing was it was built in the 20th century but in a gothic style....More

I am sorry that our visitors are being subjected to "Tent City" while they are trying to enjoy some of our historical site, such as Christ Church Cathedral! Please do not think any less of our beautiful city; this is a temporary, HOPEFULLY, setback, and that you will reconsider visiting again. I agree that it is disgusting (I won't go near there, either). It should be cleared out before September, this year. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit, in a more desirable area and other beautiful sites to see. Most of us here, want them out of there, but, it will take time, and some pushing by the government and our mayor!

I agree that it is better to enjoy the church by viewing it without looking across the way yet the inside has not changed. While the tent city seems abhorrent, it is a statement of how the wealth of a nation is in the hands... More

There is no cost for admission and you can donate if you wish. It is heated and is open I think from around 0830 to 1800 at night so most of the day(may need to check times for closing).

There is no admission rate. There are tours of the bell tower...really worthwhile. You can just wander in and around the cathedral any day....I am not sure of the exact hours, sorry.
