Seems like an amazing olace

We stopped in here for a beer at the end of a day touring breweries. They have a limited but interesting list of their own beers and a large list of guest beers. The food menu was small but looked very good ( we didn’t eat). We tried the seasonal Margarita gose which was incredible ( we bought a growler). The prices were very reasonable and the staff were super friendly. We chose to sit inside but it seemed like the patio was the place to be. Right on the water and very busy. Next time we are in Victoria, we will definitely hit this spot again.

Good food/drinks, but not Covid Friendly
Jul. 2020
The restaurant was nice and had a good vibe and I'm sure under normal circumstances it is a great place to go with friends. But they are definitely not following any Cover-19 protocols. Not a single staff member was wearing a mask and all of the tables were open. There was no physical distancing between guests/tables. The staff was great and friendly, but also not distancing from guests or each other. The staff were not using hand sanitizer (not that I saw), and were taking the debit machine from table to table without wiping it down between. I know some people don't care and maybe I'm being too picky, but there are provincial protocols and suggestions in place currently that restaurants should be following.

Went for dinner - good service, good beer food - not so much
Sep. 2019
We had rented an apartment right beside the Canoe so decided on our first evening to go there for dinner. It was about 6:30. First thing that hit us was a band practicing, was told it would be over soon as it turns into a club around 10PM
That was the big turn off for me - we couldn't talk as we couldn't hear each other -
However the waitress was lovely and kept checking on us - we tried some of their beer NICE but the fish and chips - think they had been sat waiting before we got them - fries were not hot and the fish - well I was a little confused the 1st piece was hot crispy and great, however my 2nd piece and my husbands (both) were not cooked through and was a bit mushy

To me its pub grub maybe the burger would have been better

Limited choices
Sep. 2019 • Friends
Went here for a retirement gathering. I was surprised at the lack of choices in beer. No nice ales or stouts, mostly « trendy » hoppy beers. Food menu was very limited as well. I wouldn’t bother going again.
Staff was friendly and the facility was nice.

Just had wine...

But the wine was great. The view was meh. My husband had a boysenberry sour. It was also meh. Our waitress was a little unfriendly but otherwise was ok

Good lunch spot
Sep. 2019 • Couples
Ate outside on a gorgeous day in Victoria.
I had the fish and chips, my wife the chicken thighs with jalapenos.
I also got a flight of beers (which were average) and my wife a BC Sauv Blanc.
No complaints; friendly service, too.

Visited for lunch during a cruise.
Very nice outdoor seating.
The traditional beer flight was pretty good.
The rockfish sandwich special was average at best. Very lacking in fish with a lot of bun (removed the top bun). The overall flavor was ok. There was a mixed green, blueberry salad, again ok and the red curry soup was the highlight of the plate.
My son had the clams again ok nothing special.
Their fries were the highlight. Nice and crispy and fresh cut seemingly.
Service was good.

Great ambiance, fantastic food, be forewarned: turns into a club at 10!
Aug. 2019 • Couples
We stayed at a nearby hotel and the desk clerk recommended Canoe. Best meal of our trip! We sat on the higher patio (with the walls of glass and heaters) as it was a little chilly. Wish we could have braved the beautiful lower patio right by the water. It was still a lovely atmosphere and we had fantastic service from Grace. We arrived a little after 9:00 p.m. and ordered off the shareable plates menu. The food came out quickly and was unbelievably good. Such a savory mix of flavors on all dishes: the caprese salad, chicken and watermelon, crab beignets, and the clams in cream sauce. Every bite delicious. We also really enjoyed the flourless chocolate torte with chantilly cream for dessert.

The live music starts at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday-Saturdays, and it was a pretty good cover band that Thursday. We didn’t brave the inside, but at one point we noticed a huge line outside waiting to get in. Apparently it is one hopping dance club on Thursday nights, and indeed tables of young folks around us would hop up to run inside whenever their favorite song came on. It was QUITE loud every time the door opened, so we were very glad we didn’t take a table inside when we initially arrived. Go earlier to enjoy that fantastic lower patio along the water!

Wonderful patio and delicious food!
Aug. 2019 • Friends
I visited the area for three days and this was by far my favorite restaurant. The food was fresh and tasty. The beers were great, I really liked the seasonal blueberry beer. The patio was relaxing and the service was top notch!

Great spot and gluten free menu
Jul. 2019 • Family
This is a great spot down by the water. Lovely set up outside and in. You can watch the kayakers and rowers pass by. They have a full gluten sensitive menu which is great. I had the classic canoe burger in a lovely, soft gluten free bun! Would highly recommend. The staff were also very attentive!
