This "castle" was within walking distance from the B&B I stayed at for the night and free to visit with the smartvisit card. So I made sure to walk over and wander through. Some of the rooms were well done with period artifacts, paintings, and...More

We kept reading about Victoria's Legendary Landmark Castle but we had been to Victoria many times and never made it there because we were walking and just didn't want to hike up the hill to get there. This time we had a shuttle bus at...More

I go to the Castle frequently, as a local. In reading previous reviews, I see that a lot of people bring their own biases and patriotism to their views. This is a "castle" in that Dunsmuir wanted to show off his wealth, therefore it classifies...More

Craigdarroch Castle is a house made from dreams and pride. A wonderful building with tons of history and information about its builders, owners, and the family that originally lived there.

I visited the 'castle' on a whim and am I ever glad I did so. The staff, themselves members of the society dedicated to restoring this masterpiece, were wonderful and provided many anecdotes about the principal rooms. The house itself is the very embodiment of...More

Admittedly, the home is beautiful from the outside. However, know that it was only a home for a short period of time. After being a home it served as a college and military hospital--so there are rooms dedicated to the college and the time after...More
