We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was happy to hear that city planners envision improvements for this tired looking space. The only draw is a quiet area away from the Douglas/Government Street traffic. Even then there are not many seating spots. The bathroom has been renovated, There is a newish stage area used by local artists, but the fountain has lost it's lustre as a focal point. How about a game area? More of a garden? In summer there are more activities and this Christmas there is supposed to be a mammoth light display. Let's hope this square starts to sparkle again.

This is a small square commemorating the Centennial of Canada. It has some totem poles and sculpture of whales. There are toilets nearby. Not bad to get to know the history of Canada a bit better.

This is where you go to buy drugs or get stabbed. The mayor can see it from her office window, but won't help you if you do.

Future site of bike lanes, most likely.

Enjoyed a concert of members of the Victoria Symphony doing Gypsy and European music, some of it traditional. Families were there enjoying it, a few apparently homeless people, working folks taking their lunch break, seniors, and some who appeared to be friends and family of the musicians doing some interesting looking folk dances.

I also enjoyed last month seeing the free part of the Victoria Jazz Festival there, and hearing some incredible performances.

Definitely adds value to the Victoria experience.

Jazz Fest weekend, lots of great music (free too)... washrooms closeby. It's always clean and there are lots of good eateries closeby.

I spent a little under an hour there a couple nights ago before catching a cab and met some very fascinating people with fun stories to tell!
Although, I accidentally dropped the sheet cake I had been carrying, and found when I picked it up it was completely inedible! Full of gravel and no doubt germs, yuck!
Still a classic part of the Victorian experience. Would go again.

Great location for a quick stroll, which is next to the cityhall. We have been here during certain times of the year, as they celebrate some nice festivals. Well worth a visit, even if you want to walk into Chinatown.

Some might think this an outdated attraction but for those looking for a memory of Canada's Centennial this might be a place for that conversation. It's got a fountain that was a gift to Victoria from neighbouring municipalities. In spring/summer/fall there are often music/drama/dance events held here and food trucks set up to satisfy your hunger. At Christmas you can ride a Ferris wheel and gaze at the colourful lighting. There are a pair of recently installed totems, trees and patches of green if you like to stretch out or tables/chairs with umbrellas Euro-style.
