A magical woodland, defiantly worth the drive. Amazing work done by the volunteers putting a board walk in, keep up the good work :-)

If you are looking for old growth and some hidden delights - check out Avatar Grove. Do both the upper and lower - neither will disappoint.

This really is a beautiful place off the beaten path. It is an adventure to get here and it's really a local spot, mostly people from the southern island towns (like myself) know about it. The drive is up a not-too-potholey logging road where you...More

Stunning rainforest with old growth trees. Spiritual. Challenging walking up and down hills to reach the trees and paths are minimally invasive.

Take the time to walk both the upper and lower paths. On the lower path, there are two paths, the left one in my opinion is an easier trail. We visited in the morning during the week so the trails were not crowded. Avatar Grove...More

Avatar Grove is beautiful, full stop. The thing is, as long as tourists keep piling in it will no longer be beautiful. Unlike Cathedral Grove there are no boardwalks, railing etc to keep people in line so people keep wandering off trampling the wildlife and...More

A must see on Vancouver Island. Minutes away from Juan de Fuca provincial park. Couple of hours away from Victoria. Trees were so beautiful. Stumbled upon a 1000 year old cedar, simply amazing. If you like bit of an adventure then highly recommended.

I drove it in my 1998 Toyota Avalon, an extra long sedan. I wouldn't recommend it but no damage was done. Trip was made March 2017

You could bring your pooch but it might end up being on Bigfoot's menu for the night. Best if you left that canine safely at home.
