We stopped at the wilderness center to get a little more info. We hike out to Cruikshank Canyon. We had a beautiful day and a great hike in a gorgeous area. The couple miles nearest the center are well traveled. I highly recommend the hike...More

Several short trails from the highway lead to waterfalls. There are signs in the parking areas providing a trail map and brief commentary which I found inadequate. Lady Falls: Allow 30-40 minutes for leisurely round trip. Trail has a moderate uphill grade to the Lady...More

Hiked the beautiful trails from the trail head near Mount Washington ski resort. They have helpful people to talk to you and look at the trail map before departing. Trail we hiked was 8.6km out and back, through alpine meadows and west coast forest. Also...More

Four of us trekked a ten-kilometre loop, pausing mid-way for lunch at Helen MacKenzie Lake. Naturally, the uphill trek (around fifty minutes) took a little longer than the downhill walk, although we took many more photos on the second leg. Trekking poles assisted us uphill,...More

We just did the Paradise Meadows loop which was just a gorgeous flat hike through sub alpine meadows and forest. Much of the trail is on a wide boardwalk, with special steel ramps made for the special hiking wheelchairs. I would have thought though that...More

Our family, our youngest almost 3 years old, walked (and raced as our boys do) around the paradise meadows loop. Wonderfully maintained boardwalk, in the heart of beautiful mountain meadows. We didn’t bring a stroller as didn’t think that would work but it would have...More

Strathcona Park is one of the most beautiful places on the whole island. I started coming a few years back, and keep returning for the natural beauty. I do the Paradise Meadows/Battleship Lake/Lake Helen Mackenzie loop (about a 8 km/2-2.5 hour hike), and it is...More

Honestly, I'd say skip it. There are far more beautiful places all over the island... to see "majestic" you need to hike out of the easy. Hope that helps! Check out the group "take a hike Vancouver island" on Facebook... More
