Was downtown on business. The weather was great and I went for a lovely walk, taking in the hustle and bustle.

To me, one large city looks an awful lot like another. I could pretty well look at most youtube videos of mexican cities (for example), up to date youtubes that show city street scenes with the presenter commenting as they walk down the streets and see vestiges of Vancouver (example). To the purists, who celebrate diversity, Mexico cityscapes have swallowed up North American towns like Vancouver, merely superimposing mexican style atop North American buildings. I know my streets and my hood.

Nice to walk around but take into account that there are many people living in the streets, which is kind of sad.

The Vibe of Downtown Vancouver is great. Amazing culture, food, architecture, and urban nature.
Transit makes is super easy to get around, I we expecially enjoyed walking around Granville street, Robson Square, and Yaletown.

I walked all Granville street from a block or so from false creek to waterfront. The city is views are great, although there is some homeless issue, this is just a regular thing now in big cities so you really can go unbothered,,, and then arrived to waterfront to see north Vancouver shore, the whole thing was a great experience to know the city, I eat some really good food in a ramen place I cant remember the name, but delicious!

While not perfect, there's a lot of life to see and explore in Downtown Vancouver. There's great food, lots of shopping amongst a beautiful skyline. The homeless issue is much present than it was the first time I was in Vancouver. Maybe that is pandemic-related, I'm not sure, I know I feel the difference in Toronto with the homeless issue. I just feel like you have to be a little more guarded, not that you feel unsafe as much as you feel that you have much more aware. It's a large downtown, so be prepared for walking, but there's plenty to see and do, so lots of opportunities to take a break and enjoy this lovely city!

When many think of Vancouver, they no doubt think of the natural beauty - Stanley Park, for example. And, many of the previous reviews for this attraction include things to do well beyond the downtown core. But, if we limit our scope to the downtown area only (often referred to as CBD, or central business district) things appear to be changing, and not necessarily for the better.
A recent stroll through this area showed a lot of gray buildings and gray people - where are your smiles, people? Buskers have been replaced by homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk - not back alleys, main streets!
On the positive side, the mixture of old and new architecture is quite stunning.
So, if you are from out of town, may I suggest you stick to the surrounding areas, like Stanley Park and Kitsilano? Best way to view the city skyline is from the sea-bus.

The overwhelming number (and I use the term in the strictest of senses) of Vancouver's high rises will be found here. And where is "here?" Downtown encompasses Gas Town, Chinatown, Yaletown, West End, and Coal Harbor.
Mostly though, the area associated with the CBD (downtown proper) is the stretch bordering Waterfront Station (memorial to the soldier with Victory on the ascent to heaven) and those towering buildings best appreciated at night when the lights go on.
Our view from the 20th floor of the Marriott Pinnacle (Harbor view) brought all that into reality for us. The lights were magical, the city puts on quite a show at nighttime. During the day, Downtown was so stroll-able and the historical buildings we found were special nuggets in a time capsule.

We loved the skyline, probable walked 22000 steps average a day and we still didn't even see everything! We will definitely be coming back for a visit and have decided to buy a condo here when we win the lottery.

Will the Vancouver hop on hop off bus pick up passengers at the Holiday Inn in Richmond?

Hi,
Please note there is no UBER in Vancouver... yet. Transit could be an option to get you downtown to then catch the hop on ad hop off buses. Go to Translink our public transit system to their trip planning section to see how far your hotel is to a bus or skytrain (latter more ideal).

Recommend that you contact the colleges or schools that you wish to see. This way you can schedule to see them for the timeline when you are in the area.

Hi, as a young doctor from London, I choose to go for a month in Vancouver, next April-May, for a practice in the General Hospital but at the same time enjoy this beautiful city.
I will choose an airbnb rental apartment. Where would be the best area to stay given my every day visit to the hospital? On the other hand I will be staying alone, so I would need to have restaurants etc in walking distance for my dinners etc. Thank you. Sandra Maria

Hi there - we visited in September which is slightly off-season as it's getting colder so April/May would probably be busier. We were very near the harbour as we were going on a cruise but all around that area is very busy with lots of restaurants and bars and comfortable to walk around. We stayed in an hotel while we were in Vancouver. Downtown can be a little shabby with unfortunately quite a large number of vagrants but they aren't threatening or anything - just make the place look a little untidy!

For me I prefer paying a bit more to be central and save on travel time and cost. I don't go to visit a destination and want to spend 30 minutes to an hour getting into the attractions each day. That said I found Vancouver pretty reasonable for public transport and taxi costs.

Espero eterna ajudado.
