Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Scruffy and industrial. The whole place could do with a major clean. The streets are dirty. There are a lot of drug addicts, homeless and beggars.
I definitely won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The busses are always over crowded. Everywhere is dirty and so many areas smell like pee. The roads and side walks all need a major deep clean.

I am sure there are some nice places in Vancouver but not where I was staying on Hastings Street it was dirty, travelling on buses with the homeless was horrible these people need help your government must be doing nothing to help. Lot of rude shopkeepers especially in Tim Hortons.

It was once a beautiful city. Things that were there still are but it is now a drug-infested cesspit. If you walk anywhere or use public transport you cannot avoid crackheads, their behaviours and the detritus (needles etc) they discard.
It's a shocking state of affairs but avoid the city and go somewhere civilised.

We stayed at a hotel in Vancouver Downtown and found it very convenient. We were close to just about everything, transport, restaurants, art galleries, museums, shops and wonderful sights. We never felt threatened or concerned for our safety. The place is quite vibrant and lovely to walk around.

The other low reviews awarding low ratings have really said it all: dirty, overpriced, unfriendly and dangerous. I was here 20 years ago, and things have slipped immensely. We came for the Laver Cup tennis, and loved the tournament. However, he surrounding area was disgusting, as in trash and dead rats outside. Watch out for problematic people, or just don’t come to Vancouver.

We really enjoyed walking Vancouver and exploring the neighborhoods. Some areas of hig end shopping, some of little pubs. The waterfront was really nice at the Seawall with Marinas and planes. The high end shops near the Haytt Regency and Burrard street, Alberni and Robson street St and and North with all the small shops. So many patios and small eateries. The opposite direction on Robson towards the mall. So much to see when walking.

Lovely place, easy to use public transportation, lots of food options. Rains a lot in November, this time I went in May and it was lovely and warm.

Come here for the nature, not the city and DO NOT COME HERE WITH A CAR NOR RENT A CAR IN THIS CITY! We spend hours looking for over night parking. It almost impossible to find! We found one parking garage 20 minutes away from our stay at the Library spend $30 but had to return by 5am to move the car or they will charge you for overdue charges. Street parking is super expensive 8 dollars for 3 hrs? Oh yes and homeless people everywhere so make sure you don't leave anything in the car.
