Women Rock
May 2019 • Solo
I'm a fan of Guest Conductor Jeff Tyzik, who comes to Vancouver a few times a year for the Vancouver Pops Concerts. Conductor Tyziks current program involves songs made famous by super stars...all women. Janis Joplin, Carole King, Heart, Tina and Pat Benatar. This is not "impersonators" doing the lifting. This is Jeff, the awesome Vancouver Symphony and the talented Cassidy Catanzaro, Katrina Rose and Shayna Steele.
And rock these women do!!! According to Tyzik he auditioned more than 150 singers, only to find the first three of the audition became the stars.

If you have the opportunity to see Jeff Tyzik do so, he's engaging, talented and creates fun loving music for those of us not into Bach and Beethoven.

Canadian experience
Jul. 2018 • Couples
We went to stay with our son and his partner in Canada is the most exciting place to visit.
Victoria Vancouver island has the most amazing restaurants over looking the harbour.
We also visited Bouchard Gardens the most beautiful we have seen. We went whale watching in a high powered speed boat my what an experience recommend very warm clothes even in the summer but well worth the trip.
Water taxis also great fun, the choices are plenty highly recommended .
Symphony splash was playing on the water in the harbour it was amazing.
Go to Canada you won't be diapointed.

DooWop Project a great night
Apr. 2018 • Couples
We enjoyed the Orchestra and DooWop Project tonight and it was excellent.

The wonderful sound of a magnificent Orchestra with the familiar sounds of classic songs.

The theatre was amazing and a great venue.

Lovely evening
Nov. 2017
I attended a beautifully done symphony at the bell preforming arts centre this month. It was Beethovens fifth conducted by the energetic Alexandre Bloch with and appearance by talented Blake Pouliot. This evening really made my trip to Vancouver fantastic and I really enjoyed not only the music and atmosphere tremendously but also the fact that I got to share it with some great friends. At intermission I was able to enjoy a glass of wine and chat about what we listened to which was nice. The violins were especially beautiful that evening. Thanks for a memorable night.

Afternoon at the VSO
Oct. 2016 • Friends
A few friends took in an afternoon performance at the Orpheum VSO featuring Stefan Jackiw, violinist and Jun Märkl, conductor. Violinist is very talented. The conductor was a little off the traditional path but told a story of the music in a positive, welcoming manner.

Cirque de la symphonie
Jun. 2017 • Couples
Only in Vancouver for a few days and saw that the Vancouver symphony orchestra was performing with the cirque de la symphonie .
I didn't really know what to expect .
I am not easy to impress but this knocked by socks off . Amazing performers and a great orchestra - my eyes were popping out on stalks .
I was transfixed by the performance .
If you get chance to see this performance in any city don't hesitate - go and see it .

Well worth a visit.
May 2017 • Couples
We were able to buy rush tickets at the box office about an hour or two before the program commenced for $20. Seats were up the back but still had a good view. It was a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. Vancouver Symphony Orchestra with 3 fantastic guest vocalists.
Excellent night.

Great introduction to live symphony music
Jan. 2017 • Couples
We visited the symphony twice during January and sat in the orchestra section and dress circle. It did not matter where we sat as the view was excellent. The pieces of music were wonderful although I am no expert on classical music. The talks before the concert were very informative and put the composers into context. I highly recommend you attend them. You can purchase tickets individually or as part of a package if you want to save money. This symphony may not be the best known in the world but i think they are a must see if you like music and are visiting Vancouver.

A World Class Orchestra!
Nov. 2016
The Orpheum Theatre is a stunning venue and we got to hear the Symphony play the John Williams score to Raiders of the Lost Arc as we watched the movie on a large screen behind them. A fun evening!
