Between the cold slippery trails of the mountains, and the muddy waterlogged trails of the forested areas, there are few places to walk/hike/bike/wheelchair in winter as convenient and safe as the Seawall. The 9+- kilometres is too much for me to do at one time, but various segments can be turned into an afternoon, depending on how fast you wish to go, and what you wish to stop and see. On the last trip here I focused on the west side, with its views of English Bay and Siwash Rock; this trip I did the more civilized 4+ k's from Lumberman's Arch to the Rowing Club. If you want views (like I do) you will see vistas from the Lions Gate Bridge, Burrard Inlet, and Downtown. If you want history (me too) you will see the Brockton Point Lighthouse, the Robert Burns Statue, and some stunning totem poles, just to name a few. Back to the seawall itself. Wide, well-paved; separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists in most areas. I plan to be back soon!

Vancouver Seawall gives one as much joy stripped down to shorts & t-shirt to catch the sun’s rays or bundled up to protect again the cold. Both are exhilarating in their own way. Waking the seawall as winter closes in also has the advantage of catching the festive lights now up. Given Covid-19, Vancouver requires all to wear masks when on city property, so be sure to wear one when striding or cycling out on this public facility. Best, too, to visit the website to check which parts of this 20 kms-plus path are open & the restrictions in place in these COVID times. Started in 1917 as a response to soul erosion, it took 60 years to complete this Vancouver gem. It is a timeless attraction, which can be enjoyed almost no matter one’s level of fitness. Just strip down or bundle up, depending on the weather Posted by S Fuller.

We had a great family bike ride along the Seawall! Loved the views, the ocean and even got to see a racoon.

My wife and I walked leisurely by the Seawall on a Wednesday afternoon. The weather was good at that time of the day. Not many people walking by so the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I walked for half hour and left the Seawall with joy and peace in our hearts.

A must see when in Vancouver. It is a beautiful place to walk or bike along the seawall. We did see a seal which made my wife even happier.
