English Bay is a really nice beach in downtown Vancouver, with some ironic sculptures that welcome you in this peaceful area. Go for a walk there because the beaches around, like Second Beach and Sunset Beach, are worth a visit too. The sunset is breathtaking!

I have been coming here since I was 5 years old. I love to people watch. I love the fish and chips. I love the sand. I love the smell. But, the water is ice cold. The location is like Waikiki in Hawaii. Such a beautiful spot. Give it a try. Take a walk. Sit in the sand and read... More

The view from English Bay never gets old! This landmark is great for visiting not just on crystal clear days, but on cloudy or misty days as well...the mood changes and it is wonderful!

Lots of families, runners, off leash dogs enjoying the trails on wet or sunny days. Sweeping views of North Vancouver, barges awaiting offloading. A spectacular people spot.

We stayed nearby for several days and really enjoyed coming to the beach each day, walking on the seawall, and enjoying the scenery. There are lovely grassy areas, sandy beach, lots of benches and places to sit, people to watch, bike paths... You are also just minutes away from great coffee shops and restaurants of every description. English Bay beach... More

this was the beach we visited in english bay, it was nice and quiet and we had a good time there. There was a few sketchy dudes trying to sell weed, but other than that it was nice.

English Bay is extremely popular, partly due to the fact it is basically located in downtown Vancouver, or the "west end". It is a wonderful beach, although not large, to have a walk, run, cycle or roller blade outing. The path along there goes either into Stanley Park or the other direction keeps following the waterfront. A wonderful restaurant right... More

As someone who was born here sorry but English Bay has totally lost its attraction. Impossible to park, very crowded. Better to visit the west side beaches - Locarno, Spanish Banks East and West, Jericho.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
