About
Considered by many to be one of the best boardwalk hikes around, you will be immersed in the natural serenity of the temperate rainforest. You can take the easy stairs to the beach, where you can gaze at the gentle waves crashing in. During low tide, an inviting passage presents itself so you can make your way to a small island where you may find bald eagles soaring above. Schooners Cove is nothing less than invigorating and rejuvinating. Truly a picturesque adventure.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The trail is steep in places but a lot of it is boardwalk. Great views once you get down to the beach.

You will see why this area gets nearly 3500 mm of rainfall/year. It has a good walkway, especially when it is raining. Be prepared for a change of clothes when it does rain.

This walk is really beautiful and easy. When you get to the beach it’s really lovely as it’s expansive. There are so many interesting things to see in the sand and along the shore. A must do when you’re in Tofino.

I always appreciated the long walk in to the beach, having camped there with a group a while back. We fully intended to walk the trail with family last week but saw that the area was closed. A local person mentioned it may be due to beach erosion or other safety/environmental concerns. I look forward to possibly hiking it again next year?

We hiked on this trail a few years ago and were so disappointed to see that it was closed when we went on July 2 with our kids. Not sure how long it will be closed for but check before you go. Was our most favourite trail when we were here last so hopefully it reopens soon for visitors. It is a must-do!

This is part of the Pacific Rim National Park closest to Tofino. By heading north along the beach, after parking in the Incinerator Rock lot, you can see fantastic scenery and very few people (if any).

This is a lovely restaurant with good food well prepared. It is comfort food on the hirer priced scale. My blackened snapper was delicious and served with a variety of vegetables all preserving their own unique flavours and textures. Another in our group had the seafood pasta—packed with flavour. My husband had the seafood chowder that was good but not excellent. I think you should get excellent when you pay a good price for food, don’t you? The wine selection was not great but our waiter was and offered us several tastes of different vintages before we made our choice. Nice touch. Good service. The ambiance is great and has a steady clientele at the bar by the casual bantering that was going on. I can see locals loving this place.

This is a lovely hike through the forest over raised wooden pathways, lots of steps and stairs! If it's busy then you have to squeeze past other hikers so go early in the morning. It's a popular hike and well worth doing.

We parked at Schooner Cove and then walked along the beach as far as we could go. There and back was a 3 hour brisk but meditative walk in the sunshine, with the sea spray on our faces. Bliss!

Great hike from rain forest to beach. Paths are all raised wooden walkways. Well maintained. Make sure you buy a park pass.
