I would rate this hike as challenging due to all of the tree roots that can make for a slippery ascent and decent. We called to reserve a water taxi a day before we went on the hike, because it was the May long weekend. There is a slight discount if you are a student and it ended up costing... More

The bottom section of the trail was muddy, but soon we encountered huge Western Red Cedar trees that made up for the mud. The trail is flagged, but at one point our group did get off route for a while (we missed a fork in the trail going right and continued straight up the gully). It took some in our... More

Stayed at the amazing Hostel on the island, woke up early to catch the sunrise on top of Lone Cone. I left at 4am, Take a headlamp, 3L of water and food. It's pretty vertical! I got unlucky with low clouds, but it was still worth it. Hiking in mist and being above the clouds at the end of it... More

As a young fella 14/15 me and a freind hiked to the top of the shlash (top of the lodged of aria ) and carved ower inishals into a standing tree to say we were there,as I remember it was quit a long hike and it was worth the hike to get the panoramic view of the islands and Pacific... More

Ignore the negative reviews - if you have a moderate to high level of fitness and activity, you'll be fine. Just take it slow and keep pushing till you get to the top - it is so worth it. There is a campground down the road before you turn left to the path to the hike. Stop by there for... More

Hiked in my flip flops and made it just fine. 2 hours up. A walking stick helps. Bring lots of water and snacks for the top. Incredible view. Walked down barefoot and loved every minute. Tough but rewarding up, relaxing down. This is a climb more than a hike, almost straight up at times. It's not a walk. Just because... More

I'm stunned by the negative reviews. This is nature, folks. It's not supposed to be a walk through the park. It's a mountain! It's gruelling, ruthless, exhausting, and it's nature in it's purest form the way it should be. The path is clearly marked, yes, but it is not maintained so don't expect it to be. And why should it... More

This is an excellent hike. It is the best marked trail that I have ever been on, and very easy to follow - however, at the beginning of the hike there are various trails that take off from the main trail. Follow the pink, and blue ribbons and you will have no trouble. If you aren't looking for the ribbons... More

Okay, the view is pretty awesome from the top...but the hike itself is brutal! It IS the hardest thing I have ever done. The trail is not maintained and is all roots, fallen trees, and rocks. I was not prepared mentally for this hike at all. I actually ran 4-miles that morning and noticed Lone Cone had clear skies, so... More
