Spent a pleasant day and a half at anchor in Effingham bay, Effingham Island waiting for a forecast storm. The hike across the island was really cool. Overgrown and muddy but incredible to really get into the rain forest.

The wild - trees, water, sea and beaches combined in perfect unspoilt harmony and a walking encounter with two black bears - was just magical!

Lots of great trails to do with varying difficulty. A chance of spotting bears and wolves. Some of the wooden walk ways are a little rickatee but seem safe enough. Lots of eagles to see and some amazing coastlines.

We visited Tofino lately, taking the ferry over to Nanaimo, from Horseshoe Bay on the mainland. The Pacific Rim Highway is a beautiful drive, that partly goes through PR Nat'l park. It is a twisting, turning drive through small mountains, beside rivers with cascades and...More

Do the walks through the rainforest and along the beaches. All stunning. And all free in Canada's 150 birthday.

Strongly reccomend Cobblewood Guest House in Tofino if you are looking for a comfortable quiet stay. Also, try the Shelter restaurant. You will love the ambiance, food and local beers on tap.
