Beautiful walk

Walk east towards the ocean off Departure Bay Road, down a trail past a river. The wood steps can be slippery after rain. The trail goes down to the beach, and at low tide you can walk in either direction along the stoney beach.

What a hidden gem. Very close to the very and the main highway, which made this a perfect stop over for me and my dog after a long ferry ride. The trail is steep in sections, but generally really well maintained. My dog didn't love the metal no-slip grip on some of the boardwalk sections, but he was able to... More

This is such a beautiful and tranquil walk that is easy to miss if you don't know about it. The trail takes you along a lovely creek and forested area which makes it feel like you're in a jungle! If you continue downwards it takes you to a beach front right near the ferry port. You can also take the... More

Nanaimo's Beach Estates Park is located (although hidden away) in the Brechin Hill Neighborhood. You can access it from several locations. The easiest is from the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Just follow the traffic lights heading up the hill towards the West and from there, just turn onto the first road on the right. Follow it down until you see... More

I absolutely love walking thru this park. It does require walking up and down many stairs but thats half the fun. Its beautiful from the top to the bottom. The beach at the bottom is great. My only complaints when walking thru the park is the type of metal grates used for non-slip purposes, they really hurt my dogs feet.... More

I was told about this trail, but had no idea what I was getting in to ... went with my dog and as soon as we entered the trail it was as if we were in the middle of a thick, dense forest - nowhere NEAR the city! Kept on walking - only saw 1 other couple.. there is lots... More

This walk is great, especially on a hot day since it's well covered by the canopy of trees. This lush nature walk takes you straight down to sea level as you wander beside a waterfall all the way down. Once you're at the bottom there's a great view of the ferry terminal and each time we've gone we've seen fish... More

Such a beautiful hike through the woods that ends up close to the ferry terminal. At low tide the sea life is abundant and it was interesting to be so close to the ferry as it sounded the horn and set sail!

Great place to go for a walk. The beautiful well kept trail meanders along the gully bottom amongst big trees and tall waterfalls. Lots of stairs, but they're worth it! Be sure to go at low tide too, you can go right up close to the ferries, which are very cool to see up close!
