Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent views of Kelowna & the okanagan lake when hiking to the midway ((or the top if you’re up to it). The hike midway can be made on pavement or on the trail. The second half of the main hike can be daunting but well worth it. It’s on a trail and can be slippery when it’s rained. There are several other trails to partake in on the mountain. Has a good enclosed dog run along the side. Plenty of parking on site or on the street.

We hiked here again Sunday for the umpteenth time. Good trails and lovely views. The best time to come is later in the spring when the ubiquitous arrow-leafed balsam root flowers are blooming. There are enough trils to allow short outings or longer treks.
Enjoy.

This is a great place to go for a hike. There are several trails, look-outs and views of the lake. Paul’s tomb is the best known but there are several great walks n the area. Bikes can ride on the trails and road.

It is amazing Kelowna has this beautiful park almost right in the city. Many people walk hike or bike thru this park. The views from the top are amazing. We have hiked this area a few times over the last couple years. Enjoy it every time. If in Kelowna, take a couple hours and enjoy!!

Visited on a hot summer day and walked up to the top in about 1:30 hours. If you go in sunny days, take at least one liter of water per person.
There were signs that it's a snake habitat but we didn't see any.
The view from the top was great. I recommend this hike in Kelowna.
There are other trails that you can mix and match.
Be careful not to walk in the mountain bike trails. Check them in Trailforks to be safe.

Great easy access place for impromptu hike. I like to hike up the road (makes for a longer hike) and return via the nature trail. Great views of kelowna and ok lake

Not to hard of a gentle hike. We only went to the first part of the hike. It has a beautiful view of Kelowna. I highly recommend. I was warned though of charging female deer when they are fawning. Take a bell.

We took on Knox Mountain from the base and took the Ogopogo trail which is highly recommended for the stunning views and steep slopes. Great workout at about 2hrs round trip from base. Take a water with!

Drove to the top and it was all worth it. The views from the lookouts are quite amazing, especially on sunny days. If you like taking panoramic pictures of Kelowna, this is definitely the place to be.

As Knox Mountain Park is literally my backyard, I have walked, hiked, and biked this gem of a park almost every day for the last 20 years or more. I can honestly say I am familiar with every road, trail and deer track that crisscross amongst this relatively large swath of nature and wildness. And during all this time, I have developed some strong opinions regarding this particular green space. With that said, please take my comments with a grain of salt and understand this is only my subjective viewpoint and I mean no disrespect.

1) As a less developed regional park (which I approve of and want it to stay this way), there are few creature comforts of home. Washroom facilities are available at the pavilion up top with a few Jiffy Johns throughout (most notably at the lower pavilion)... but that's it. Be prepared to hold it or use a nearby tree or bush.
2) Also, trash cans are not peppered throughout. Trash in, trash out.
3) Bring your own drinking water.
4) This is a "dog on leash" park which I find ludicrous. This is such a large park, my dog and I have never had an issue with other people or the local wildlife. The deer are not concerned as my dog doesn't chase them and the coyotes and black bear are similarly not bothered by us. In fact, the only "wildlife" that has ever taken exception to my dog being off leash are the by laws officers who have more than once tried to chase us down to write us a ticket. We just hike further into the trees and they soon give up. In fact, there are large sections of the park where I have never seen another soul in over 20 years of trekking.
5) And that is one of the best things of this park, the ability to find your own space like:
The inukshuks on the east ridge above Kathleen Lake
Kathleen Lake itself bordering the Highpointe residential subdivision.
The trail from Magic Estates down to Paul's Tomb... a smaller version of the Grouse Grind.
the green glade from the south end of Rio Dr to Kathleen Lake
the quiet viewpoint in and to the left of the trail starting at Lambeth Ct.
There are many more but I don't want to give away all my secret spots
6) On the far eastern border of the park, there are new property survey pins stuck into the ground... approximately 150 metres INSIDE the park boundary!!! I am going to have to call city hall about this.
7) The one paved road to the top is currently still closed because of the Covid 19 crisis.
8) The Apex trail is supposedly one way (uphill) again because of Covid. However, the other trails are still a free for all.
9) The mountain bike trails are well maintained and decent although not technically difficult for expert riders.
10) Over the years, there have been a couple of cougar sightings but I have never seen any evidence... which is a good thing. Mostly, mule deer, coyotes, rattlesnakes, and black bear... and a lot of smaller mammals, birds, insects, and reptiles.
11) Lastly, stay on the trails to keep human created erosion down, lessen our environmental impact and to prevent yourself from stepping on the annoying cacti.

A great regional park. Please enjoy responsibly and help keep my backyard pristine.
