Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were looking forward to our Maeg BBQ Boat rental but were disappointed in the end. The ride was okay however we were hoping to enjoy the water as well. The ladder that is provided makes it just about impossible to get back into the boat. Something that really needs to be addressed!

The initial description of this activity had our group booking it very quickly! For $295, a two hour boat ride seemed like a steal of a deal, and it included a really fun and unique feature or having a BBQ smack in the middle of it. Although it was in fact a unique activity to do it Kelowna, the speed of the boat was a real let down. Our instructor advised us not to click past 4 notches as it otherwise wears the battery down, and so it honestly felt like we were crawling at a snails pace. The other reviews are correct in saying you need to allow ample time to get back to the dock depending on where you go as it took us 20-25 minutes to get near the bridge which seemed like a stones throw away.
The weather was beautiful though and the scenery more than made up for it; not to mention we did have a nice little BBQ lunch. Would recommend for sure but don’t get your hopes up that’s it’s going to be more than a ‘float’ than anything else.

The boat style was unique and the ride was decent, but the “tour guide” we had shared nothing about Kelowna- and when asked questions, she didn’t have much to offer or share. Though we enjoyed the ride, we felt it was lacking in a fuller experience as a tourist as it would’ve been nice to learn more about Kelowna and what we were looking at.

Also when paying online, we had 3 guests but we couldn’t pay for just 3, it had to be 4 which felt odd.

So much fun great experience despite the smoke. The only recommendation I would make is the ladder needs to be sturdier very difficult getting in and out of the boat. This is a must experience for all ages.

Spent a lovely afternoon on Lake Okanagan. Thankfully since we were there in the heat wave and it was 46 degrees. Unfortunately the boat DID NOT come with the umberlla which would have helped. BEWARE: if you get in the water, the ladder is plastic and can be very difficult to climb back into the boat. But well worth the bruises to cool off - LOL. We ordered lunch from TJ's and she delivered the bbq food to the boat dock for us. 2 hours was perfect. I feel the cost was well worth the experience.

Better troubleshooting for other boats that are broken down as we were almost an hour behind schedule so they could save another boat. No offer of a discount. Bad attitude from the manager with no apology. Advertised with umbrellas but none provided- very hot in the bare sun. A heads up would have been nice. Leaking bbq ruined belongings

Good fun! Very friendly staff. You can BBQ on the boat, get your own snacks and drinks. Captain will be there with you throughout.

On a recent trip to Kelowna, we were lucky enough to use Maeg's Barbecue Boats for an afternoon meal. Although the book-in was a little drawn out, this had to be done for safety reasons. Once the formalities had ben dispensed, we were off for 2 hours on the lake of eating, refreshments and swimming. The crew at Maegs made sure we were well informed of all aspects of the operation of the boat and anything that may require special attention. It would be "advisable" if you are thinking of doing this activity, is to have had a little experience in skippering a boat as driving a "round boat" was something very different. Make sure if you go accross the lake you leave 35mins to return to the dock, as the recommended 20mins is no where enough time and you may be late back and up for a penalty. Boats were very clean, well maintained and accomodated our party of 8 with ease. All barbecue tools etc are supplied. Just bring what you want to eat and your refreshments. Over all we would highly recommend this activity as a great way to spend a couple of hours on the lake.

This is not really a boat trip on the lake. It is a slow trip out into the lake (not very far) and a slow trip back. Initially a little disappointed that we didn’t see more but my travelling companions loved it. Lots of information from our lovely guide about the area and history. Very inexpensive $25.
