For Literary Buffs, this is a must see and do! The cabin has been restored and period furniture, cooking and daily living items, and personal items such as clothing etc are placed tactfully around the cabin. Readings of his poetry are scheduled through out the day by very knowledgable guides dressed in period costumes. I even brought my copy of... More

We have always loved the poetry of Robert Service and it was fun to visit the place that inspired him. The Park Service staff does a great job. Not lots to see; the cabin is small but in a nice location overlooking the town. Recommended if you are in to history.

The National Park's interpreters really get into character! The poems are a real treat! Very entertaining!

We went on an organised tour to Roberts house and there was a reading of his wonderful poetry by Sue she was so knowledgeable on him and told the small group stories of his life and recited poetry to us....I had never heard of him before coming here but had to buy a book as they were so good. Sue... More

If you are into Service, and I am, this is a neat place to visit. His "Cremation of Sam McGee" is one of my favorites and the poet comes alive in this attraction.

A great place to visit. The role player who have Robert Service's life history and recited poems was excellent! It is definitely an"must do" in Dawson City.

I was familiar with Robert Service's poetry even when towing up in New England, and I brought my tattered copy of his poems on this trip. It was a real pleasure to walk through his cabin with its original furnishings, while listening to poems ad biographical details recited by an interpreter dressed in Victorian Period clothing.

Parks Canada has done a brilliant job in having costumed students lead tours of this attraction. Our tour guide was fantastic (he was wearing a bowler hat and tie and read from Service's book brilliantly). He read stories and told of his life and then gave us a tour of the little cabin. I really got a lot out of... More

We saw this as a part of the Tales of Dawson City Tour, a tour that cannot be missed! "Fred" our orator from the Park Dept. portrayed Robert Service, reciting verse as if he were the man himself. Fred was so animated and devoted to both his recitation and his presentation of Robert Service's life's story, it was as if... More

We stopped by the Robert Service Cabin at the time of the poetry reading. Sue was giving the talk, and she was extremely good. She told some history, some stories, and recited some of Service's poetry from memory. $6.30 got us the talk and then the viewing of the cabin. The cabin was original with Service's stuff still in it.... More
