We went to see the murals and only stayed for a bit... The murals were nice enough, but just wasn't our cup of tea. There is a small museum that you can go and view for free. It's a cute little museum.

What a great way to visit a small town. We purchased the mural map from the visitor centre which highlighted and described all of the murals. I really liked the painted footprints on the sidewalk leading you to the various murals. I had been here...More

Our B&B suggested we take a look at the mural trail and so we stopped at the tourist office where we were able to get a leaflet all about them and a map with the trail. The murals are large and on varied subjects, we...More

Our B&B host lent us a book providing details on each mural and who painted them. I agree that it is fairly difficult to see them in a systematic manor as the numbering does not follow any natural sequencing. Having said that it was very...More

This quaint little town was founded in 1853 as a logging town. During the 1980's the town was subject to a declining forest industry and had to come up with a solution for economic survival. This mural project was one of the main projects of...More

We stopped here on our way to Parksville. The murals are all over the town. We had a map in the back of a brochure all about Chemainus. There are footprints to follow but they really need repainting. It would be an idea if a...More

Interesting to see, some of the murals were exceptional. It wasn't easy to follow. There were likely brochures to follow but we couldn't seem to find any (and we went through the museum) the footprints are a good idea but many have been paved over.

By car it's about an hour and a quarter. Well worth the trip. It's a pretty wee town. Check out the visitor centre for a map of the murals.
