Barkerville is a very interesting place to visit and has lots of history. There is something going on all the time to keep a person busy. This was our second visit in 9 years and we hope to get back there again some year.
We took a trip back in time and relived /checked out things we used to use and do. Good for families looking for the way some of the older days were. Road construction almost finished so the road should be good.
My first time travelling up into the Cariboo region to attend a wedding, I extended my trip to especially come to Barkerville. As an active museum brought the town to life. To recognize the history of this site and area and to imagine such hard...More
We happened to find out about this jewel and so happy we took the side trip. It is a wonderful example of a gold mining town with reenactments, many period buildings furnished with authentic antiques and great stores and restaurants.
Came over not really sure what to expect, but when tour started, makes sense then. Characters are really good and you can look at everything yourself. Also take a trip to the courthouse, the two guys doing it when we were there, late August, and...More
Best piece of advice I can give - stay at the St Georges Hotel! If you stay there you are staying IN the park for the night so when the gates close and the public leave you have the park to yourself! There is a...More
What fun it was to go back in time to the 1860's while walking the streets of Barkerville Historic Town. The street actors and store staff make for a most enjoyable visit. We also took in a show at the theater, great actors and singers,...More
My first time to visit the gold-mining town of Barkerville. (We were three adults.) For history buffs in general and anyone wanting to understand BC's colonial period in particular, it is well worth the detour (only one way in and out from Hwy 97, although...More
What a unique and immersive trip into a 1860s goldrush town. The street actors and staff in the gift shops are brilliant, friendly and very knowledgable. The beautiful mountain backdrop is just an added bonus. There are many things to discover and learn about. The...More
I haven't been to Barkerville since 1976. It was awesome to be back and I had an amazing time. I learned a lot about the history of BC that I hadn't known before and it was wonderful to be transported back to a different time...More

Barkerville's main season programming runs straight through to the end of September, so although you are correct that our visiting audience is a little smaller with schools back in, and the demographic of our September guests changes slightly, there is still lots to see and do in Barkerville after Labour Day! Please look at the Activites section of our webstie for more information.
As for accommodations, I would try one of our onsite B&Bs first (the King House, Kelly House, or St. George Hotel) and then one of three convenient and cozy options in nearby Wells, BC (8 kms from Barkerville): The Hubs Motel, The Wells Hotel or the Moutnain Thyme Getaway Guest House. Info on all of these accommodation options, plus a few more, can be found in the Places to Stay sectin of our website.
I hope this information is useful. If I may be of any further assitance, please contact me directly at your earliest convenience.
