We stopped on our way to Lake Maligne at the parking/picknick area lukely it was still full of water a clear sky, hence we had the beautiful view as seen in the photo.

however you have to pass it anyway on the way to Maligne lake. we just drove on as it is really nothing worth to see. when we passed it (August17) there was almost no water in the lake and it looked very dry.

I don't think it matters. There is parking. We saw two brown bears and the eagles nest. Absolutely exquisite place to see. A must!

Not normally. As of now water level is normal so you should be OK.
