Several people we met while hiking elsewhere were enthusiastic about this hike and convinced us to do it. On Sept. 16, it took us just three hours to go to the top and return including 45 min.s for lunch and photos along the way. The parking lot at the trial head is just 150 feet down the Wilcox Creek Campground... More

We did this walk having visited the glacier and skywalk. We were camping at the Wilcox Campsite, and the start of the walk is situated at the entrance to the campsite. We did the first half of the walk up to the two 'Red Chairs' which you reach after about 40 minutes uphill climb. It's not a hard climb, but... More

Wow! Excellent views of the glaciers. We chose the hike over the glacier walk and couldn be happier. The trail was pretty steep, so if you have poles, would recommend taking them. Definitely a must see!

Hiked this route in October 2014 and enjoyed it thoroughly. This trip, we had Irish guests with limited hiking experience, but they were game to try. We made it up the toughest climb before we turned around. The hike starts in the cool forest and when you get up about 1,000 feet opens up with a panoramic view of the... More

Following a night at Waterfowl Lakes Campground, I stayed two nights at Wilcox Campground, avoiding the crowded campgrounds near Jasper, Banff, and Lake Louise. After setting up camp, I visited the Athabasca Glacier on the ground, as most people view the area. Next day, I hiked to Athabasca Falls, Valley of the Five Lakes, and Sunwapta Falls, south of Jasper.... More

On our last day we drove from Jasper to Calgary and I wanted to get in one last hike before leaving the mountains. We stopped and did this hike in the afternoon... it took a couple of hours but is definitely one that you could hike a lot longer and for many miles as the trail seemed to continue on... More

After reading reviews of the Wilcox Pass trail I was excited to take it. We did this hike in the am, and then did a walk on the Athabasca Glacier with Ice Walks in the afternoons. We thought experiencing the glacier these two different ways would be interesting. The hike itself was OK. One goes up rather steeply through alot... More

As with most trails in the Rockies that I have hiked, the trail ascends steeply and in just over a half kilometre, you are above the treeline. Be on the lookout for mountain goats in the gully just past the 'red chairs', and further on we saw two groups of bighorn sheep. The main attraction however are the views of... More

This is a relatively short and easy hike with a good dose of scenic reward. It takes between 1.5 hours and 3 hours depending on speed and how far you go into the pass. It is a busy trail in high season due to the short distance, minimal altitude gain and the views of the famous glaciers of the Columbia... More

This is a hike of moderate difficulty with fantastic meadows and glacial views. Weather in this area is highly variable due to the Columbia Icefields, so take some rain protection. We were pelted with a hailstorm followed by a hard rain in late July.
