The Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Village, are set in the picturesque Muskoseepi Park in Grande Prairie, Alberta and depict the history of the region. The Museum is open year-round and was officially opened to the public in 1971. Its main focus has been the early pioneers, from the early 1900s, who homesteaded Grande Prairie and came over the long and short trails that contributed to the early development of business in the Peace Region. Since its initial opening, the Museum has now grown to a collection of over 80,000 artifacts under five main themes: Paleontology, Archaeology, Natural History, Human History and Curios and Collections.

Wonderful look at Grande Prairie through history. Go in the fall when the college students are helping and you will not be disappointed.

I give the museum a really good review since finding a gallery to support local artisans is sometimes hard to find in particular areas. The museum is brightly decorated with fantastic exhibits that change every few weeks, hands on experience for children in their art rooms is another great idea

The GP museum is full of many historical items, they even have scavenger hunts for inside the museum and outside where the historical houses are, I did the hard one and I spent 2 hours searching through and learnt a lot of new things about the place I didn't know before!

We could not believe how this museum displayed the history of the area. The inside part of the museum gives loads of artifacts about the area. The buildings in the outside section provides history of people and groups who settled in the Grand Prairie area. It is spectacular. We could not believe that it was FREE!

I can't believe we have lived here for 13 years and just recently visited the museum with our 2 kids the other day. The staff is so friendly and outgoing. The village out back is so cool that you actually get a feeling of being back in time. I highly recommend anyone to stop by and check it out. It's... More

Took the family there yesterday. Can't believe we have lived on gp for a year and we hadn't been there sooner. The only thing I wish they had was more outdoor exhibits. The ground for there exhibits seems a lot like a run way. Long and narrow. If they had the ability to expand and have more stuff outside I... More
