My friend and I wanted to do something different to shopping and eating in a restaurant for our weekly outing. We decided on a picnic at Elk Island Park. The weather was quite cool (+13 C - light breeze & cloudy). I thought for just a drive thru and short picnic $8 per person was a bit costly for seniors.... More

I've grown up going here, and I still love it every time. There's a chance of seeing Bison, deer, beavers, coyotes, porcupines and maybe even elk. But, even if you don't see these, the scenery is amazing. Great little hikes through here too.

Our server at the Courtyard Downtown in Edmonton recommended paying a trip to Elk Island National Park while in the area. The park is right off highway 16 a little east of town. There are paved roads into the park. We stopped at the welcome center and were greeted inside by two energetic and most helpful young ladies. They explained... More

Elk Island National Park, a short drive from Edmonton, is great place to escape the city to see wildlife, to do a little low-impact hiking and to enjoy Prairie lakes.

The park is located close to Edmonton and as i happened to stay in east Edmonton it was perfect location for me as it took only around 40 minutes to get there. It's a perfect escape from urban areas, with gravel roads, lakes, forests and animals. It didn't took long to spot the first bisons and one of them started to cross the road... I was amazed yo see bisons. I expected to have to look for a couple hours to see one bison, but I was wrong. Hundreds of bisons grazing. Awesome thing to do less than an hour from Edmonton

I don't think people realize what a great place Elk Island is. It can be so much fun, there's hiking, camping, canoeing, biking, golfing oh and don't forget to visit the bison.

40 minute drive from Edmonton. This place is pretty cool! There are lots of wildlife to see from bisons, beavers, deer, etc. Lots of hiking/biking trails and picnic areas. Its a really cool place. There is a national park fee to get in. For two adults was $15. Just be careful where you are stepping. Lots of "patties" Remember to... More

Just don't go there. Nothing to do in this place. No food available in summer worst place to take your family unless you hate them. This place should be eased from the map hahaha. But if you don't believe me go there and enjoy wasting gas, time and money and getting nothing in return. Good place to get high and... More
