My partner and i go hiking here every couple weeks and i must say it is absolutely beautiful. yes even in the dead of winter it is still stunningly calm and peaceful. I visited this place with my family and did not spend much time there during the visit. We basically drove through it but even in such short visited we got to see different wild animals including a few buffalos. (Note: I visited this place in Fall 2015. I put March 2016 because it would not give me the option to... More

This park has great picnic areas, some playground equipment for the kids, some great nature watching paths ... biking is great out here too. Be sure to be aware of your surroundings, the buffalo really do wander around everywhere, and while they aren't generally aggressive (aside from mating season), you do not want to corner one unawares. A great park... More

The park is not the most exciting ne in Alberta. The main attractions are the wild bisons which you have a good chance to see.

I visited close to dusk, upon the advice of the park rangers. I saw several bison, elk and many beavers. It is around a 20-30 minute drive from Edmonton, and in my opinion a must-see if you are in the area. How often can you see these animals in their natural habitat?

A great place to visit for hiking and camping. Though its named Elk Island, we did not see any Elks, but we saw quiet a few Bisons on our way there. Had camped there in the month of August. An insect repellent spray is needed at that time of the year.

My sister and I hiked a trail for 2 hours through the woods. We saw tracks of deer bison coyote but no live animals along the way. Several birds were in the trees.

My friend and I wanted to do something different to shopping and eating in a restaurant for our weekly outing. We decided on a picnic at Elk Island Park. The weather was quite cool (+13 C - light breeze & cloudy). I thought for just a drive thru and short picnic $8 per person was a bit costly for seniors.... More
