There are some great shops in the area for sure but I don't like the downtown area that this little hub is located in. I think that the east and west Italian shops are a tad better and offer a wide selection of things just as this hub does. Better to visit in the summer months and not the winter as you can stroll through the area more easily.

An amazing store with wonderful, friendly staff. Beautiful array of items for kitchen and gardens (decks, balcony's and porches)! Their coffee and snacks/desserts are well above the norm... Highly rate this beautiful store and it's wonderous assortment of keepsakes and treasures!! :) :)

One of the best kept secrets in Edmonton is the good prices and wonderful variety, of the produce at the Italian Centre. For specialty foods with a European flair no place is better. The parking is free and the atmosphere is electric. Check out Zocalo one block south of the Italian Centre for gifts, flowers, plants and lattes. The ambiance of the store is unparalleled, beauty surrounds the shopper wherever you go in the store. Check out the greenhouse, winter or summer, for a peaceful, wonderful place to shop, sit or meet your friends. Giovanni Caboto Park is a gem in the heart of the City, with one of the best playgrounds in the city. I love Tony's Pizza on 111 Avenue - the best pizza in the city, and also check out Sorrentinos next to the Italian Centre shops. You will not be disappointed if you make a trip to Little Italy!

Always on the hunt for unique coffee shops and parks, Little Italy delivered. Stopped by Zocalo (coffeeshop/gifts/greenhouse) for a coffee in the greenhouse (great experience) and then watched a soccer game on the TV's in the Italian Centre. Italian supermarket attached to a neat little cafe. Very European atmosphere. In Giovanni Caboto Park there was a pickup soccer game going on and the sculpture fountain was on beside the kids waterpark. Later they closed the street off with a Giant TV to watch some of the Women's World Cup.
Definitely a different feel than most areas in Edmonton. Truthfully I didn't know that Edmonton had a Little Italy. Hidden gem! It is located between Commonwealth and the new arena being built and I'm sure that this area will really gain some attention in the coming months and years.

As a citizen of Edmonton I would like to point out that while this area is a cute place to visit, it is often that bad things occur here. Please travel with caution at night.

Smaller than it's Chinatown neighbor, Little Italy is a gem in the Downtown area. I love Giovanni Caboto Park, the character homes and the cool businesses.
Some of my favorites in the area are:
-Italian Centre
-Spinelli's
-Zocalo
-Tony's Pizza
-Sorrentino's
...and more...
Grab an espresso, sit in the park by the fountain, walk on Church Street - it really is a great area and everyone should try it at least once!
