I've lived near Edworthy Park for almost 30 years. Nice park, and the Douglas Fir Trail is a very nice urban trail through large...Douglas Firs. But, the trail is now closed (for the first time in my experience) indefinitely while they do a study on how to stabilize the slope. No idea when it will re-open.

Convenient parking on both sides of the Bow River. The paved walks extend as for as you want to go (Calgary has the most amazing walkway network) Don't forget to stop in at the little cafe next to the bridge~great ice cream, amongst other things. YumYum!

Overall I was quite surprised that you could find such a shaded tree covered trail in the heart of Calgary. Being from out of town, I wouldn't make the special trip to the park again but it's a good place to go for a long walk if you're in the area

Great for a family outing! Playground for the little ones, a rocky beach on the bow and plenty of pavilions you can rent to have a barbeque in! Washroom facilities are also provided.

This is a great place to get outside and experience nature in Calgary. There are well marked paths for hiking, paved and dirt bike trails, picnic areas, playgrounds. Access to the river, makes this a great place for the family, including our dog!

Although I have lived in Calgary for about 45 years, I only recently walked around the Douglas Fir Trail along the south side of the Bow River. It was almost like hiking in the foothills or mountains west of Calgary. In addition to the hiking trails, there are lots of picnic areas, and rafting on the Bow River in this... More

The park beside the banks of the Bow River in Calgary Alberta gives a feel for the countryside within the city. Here in the summer (very, very short Canadian summer from June to September) you can launch your raft and float downstream on a sunny day. The Douglas Fir trail is the most eastern stand of Douglas Fir trees in... More

Edworthy Park is located on the south side of the Bow River, a very popular area with off leash dog runs, a beautiful park complete with BBQ areas, fire pits and kids park. On hot days you will see many adults, kids and dogs wading in the river and a steady steam of people rafting and paddleboarding (life jackets are... More

Park on either side of the Bow River. Walk through the old growth forest up to a great lookout area over looking the river.

You can get here from south Calgary via the tricky to find Bow Trail / 45 Street access, or from the north, via the Memorial Trail / Bowness Road route, just off of the Trans Canada. The park, however, is on the north side of the Bow River. The gravel beach is a great way to get close to the... More
