- JackieHoniton, United Kingdom72 contributionsCalgary TowerAs we only had a short time in Calgary this was one of the places we wanted to go to. The views from the top were amazing- 360 degrees- and there were helpful information boards indicating the landmarks. Standing on the glass platform for a photo was one of the bravest things I’ve done! As we were staying nearby we returned later to see the tower illuminated- lovely!Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 9 October 2023
- Norman GWinnipeg, Canada40 contributionsBest View of Calgary.Calgary Tower. Great landmark and definitely worth the $20 entry. Wasn’t all that busy and great way to see all of Calgary and the mountain line off in the distance. Be mindful if your afraid of of heights or struggle being at heights the tower does lightly sway when it’s windy like today.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 November 2023
- April Wheeler RuhlandPrairie du Sac, Wisconsin64 contributionsPair with Sky 360.It was fine. I would definitely pair it with a meal at Sky 360 to really be able to soak in the views. I also wish the audio tour had a text/readable version. I didn't want to listen and disturb the other visitors. I liked the placards explaining what we were looking at.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 January 2024
- SouthtrackCanberra, Australia250 contributionsAbsorbing ViewsThere are taller towers in bigger cities, but you can’t necessarily see as much from them. Calgary Tower offers a unique view over the city, on the edge of the prairie, to the Rocky Mountains in the distance. We found ourselves so absorbed that we walked several laps, and watched the short history film as well. One feature, offering another unique perspective, is an area of transparent floor with a view straight down to the street, 157m below. Not everyone will feel comfortable standing on it, but it’s still in place after countless visitors. Definitely worth a visit.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 January 2024
- Sabrina E3 contributionsHighly recommend going up the Calgary TowerThis was our first time visiting the Calgary tower. While the cost is significant at $22 per person for our family of 4, the cost was definitely worth it. Highly recommend! Take a walk out in the glass floor if you are brave!Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 March 2024
- Gardiner WVancouver, Canada508 contributionsView, view, viewThe views are quite spectacular especially on a clear sunny day of which Calgary has plenty. Lots of information on the construction of the tower and of the buildings on view from the top. I thought the admission price was a bit steep...$23 including tax for a senior but I guess you do have to pay for the view!Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 10 April 2024
- Lynne BPineville, North Carolina7 contributionsCalgary TowerEnjoyed visiting Calgary Tower on recent solo trip. Great views of the city from the observation floor. Enjoyed the glass floor area and ground views. I did not eat at the upper level restaurant with rotating views but heard some people commenting that the food was good and they enjoyed the experience. Recommend you add this as part of your Calgary stay.Visited August 2024Travelled soloWritten 1 September 2024
- DavidTelford, United Kingdom400 contributionsWorth a visit if you are in CalgaryThis isn't the most spectacular tower i have visited, however it is worth going to if you are in downtown Calgary. For this type of attraction the price is reasonable and the views of Calgary are nice to look at on a clear day, which we were fortunate enough to have. Staff were polite and friendly.Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 September 2024
- Sara K55 contributionsGood visit during downtown Calgary tourismWe enjoyed our visit to Calgary Tower. It was a nice touristy thing to do while in Calgary. We stood on the transparent step-out (got a little dizzy!) which is impressive, and the birds-eye views of Calgary are beautiful. We watched the video of the history and read some of the placards around the tower. It was a brief visit, but we enjoyed it as part of our Calgary sight-seeing. On our way to the tower, we walked by the Peace Bridge and stopped at Prince's Island Park - wow! This park is stunning and so well maintained. Afterward the tower, we stopped at the Wonderland Sculpture outside The Bow tower, by the Olympic Plaza (under construction in Sept 2024 and so was pretty unimpressive.) We also went by the Family of Man sculpture and to Stephen Avenue Walk and spent a bit of time at the Devonian Gardens. We had lunch and mid-day drinks on a couple of different balcony bars with great views, which was a great way to spend 3-4 hours in downtown Calgary.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 September 2024

Having a few hours to spare at the airport, I took the bus into Calgary and went to Calgary Tower. The views are fantastic and on a clear day you can see over to the snow-capped Rockies. There are a few historical pictures of the construction of the tower and a glass floor panel to stand on if you dare.
TIP: Instead of paying just for the tower I recommend going for lunch first at the 360 revolving restaurant which costs approx $20-$40, then you can go upstairs to the lookout floor for free.
If I'd paid the $18 entry fee for the Calgary Tower I'd have been disappointed. Yes, the views are fantastic on a good day, but it's pricey.

You can clearly see the pride that is taken in the Calgary Tower, and it gives stunning views over the city and there is lots of fun to be had on the glass floor!
However, there isn’t that much to do other than that. So it could be quite a short trip and for $18 you want to make sure you go on a clear day, as the real stunner was the view out to the mountains! There is a restaurant that revolves and if you get an entree they waive the observation deck fee. So I’d definitely recommend going to the Sky 360 Restaurant and Lounge for a quick bite and then going to the observation deck!

We visited Calgary Tower in January (winter) - with very few people visiting
It cost $C 18 pp ($C16 for seniors)
The views were excellent - with visibility to the mountains surrounding Calgary
Well worth a visit to orient yourself in Calgary.
Unfortunately there was no cafe for a tea/coffee and a sit at the top.
There was an interesting 6 minute video presentation on the construction of the tower

Calgary Tower was once a landmark and one of the tallest structures in the City of Calgary. Currently, it seems to be safely stowed between now much larger buildings and is almost becoming a bit of a historical artifact. The visit to the tower is great, the view is quite spectacular (still), and if it doesn't give you the chills you can try standing (or dare you to lay face down) on the glass floor section.
The rotating restaurant (360) is really cool, as it revolves once per hour providing a full view of the city from the CT perspective while dining.
I must admit the only reasons why I didn't give this full 5 stars is:
1. Restaurant is too pricey for the food quality you will get (really guys, Earls and Moxies are doing better), and
2. The tour of the tower itself should provide a bit more information and pictures about the building construction. There is some info in the elevator, and some in other parts, but it is scarce and disconnected. Seattle Space Needle did a better job on this one (hint-hint).

We visited Calgary Tower prior to our dinner reservation for the Sky 360 rotating restaurant. From previous reviews I had understood your dinner reservation included access to the tower’s observation deck, but when we arrived we discovered the offer has changed to a “discounted fee” with tickets available fro the gift shop.
The gift shop attendant was very helpful and friendly, offering us helpful advice about our visit, and recommended we not pay the extra fee for access to the observation deck as the views are better from the restaurant level which we would be visiting anyway. I did purchase a lovely t-shirt in the gift shop, but when we asked about an item we had seen displayed in the window, it was unavailable. Apparently, the stock in the gift shop was low as we were visiting outside of peak tourist season, which was a bit disappointing.
We very much enjoyed our experience at the restaurant, and the views are incredible. See my separate review of Sky 360 for further details.

Probably the best known landmark in Calgary, the Calgary tower is an iconic structure that draws many visitors. Even though it is not as tall as other towers around the world, it is still a member of the World Federation of Great Towers which puts it in a status on par with other taller and more modern towers in the world (e.g. Toronto's CN Tower, Shanghai's Pearl Oriental tower, or Seattle's Space Needle, among others).
The entry fee is somewhat pricey, however taking the elevator up to the observation deck is a fun experience thanks to the screens showing an animation of the ascend. Once upstairs, the views on a clear day can be impressive, though the side that faces the central business district offers mostly views of the downtown office towers. But on the other sides of the tower, you can see the Rocky mountains, the airport, prairies, and other landmarks in the city.
The glass floor is a fun feature, in line with what you normally see in other tall towers around the world. It is a very popular spot for pictures.
There is a video showing some information about the tower, but that's the extent of the "interactive" side of the tower. I really wish that more interactive and audiovisual displays were made available on the observation deck which would make a visit to the tower memorable, hence my 4 star review instead of 5. I really hope that the management takes note of this and exploits the tower's potential by bringing its displays to the 21st century!
Downstairs there is a small souvenir shop.
I haven't been at the rotating restaurant in the tower in several years, I look forward to trying it again. A few years ago it was one of the best romantic spots in the city to go for dinner, so I hope that hasn't changed too much!

My stop in Calgary being impromptu, I had not at all planned to visit the Calgary Tower, a vestige of Canada's hundredth anniversary and, subsequently, the Olympic Games which were held there a while ago.
Although we could stay at the top and enjoy the 360 degree view of the city for as long as we wanted until it closed, the high volume of visitors doesn't really allow for that. This is why I find the $21 paid for entry a bit expensive but I imagine that it goes towards the maintenance of this installation from the late 1960s.
The windows could do with cleaning more often but the view of the city and the Bow River is incredible. There were too many visitors to fully appreciate it during my visit and wait to see the sun set and see Calgary light up, but it definitely added to the experience. To have ! After all, it’s not every day that we have the chance to visit the tallest tower that housed the Olympic flame!

Arrived in Calgary late afternoon from Banff and had to go have a look at the Calgary Tower. Such a delight to see the views at night looking out over the CBD which then aloud me to search the CBD from the ground the following day. note to self and others if you want to eat at the restaurant book ahead early for a meal with a view :)

Location: In the heart of Downtown Calgary.
Parking: I didn’t see any affiliated with this site. But I was able to find a street parking located on the street on the other side of this side on the east side. I paid using my parking app, which wasn’t expensive at all & a 10 min walk.
Admission: I did online, I believe there’s an option to do it in person. It’s about $30+ bucks.
Activities: The lineup is about a 20min wait, to accommodate Covid requirements. You go up in the elevator, which doesn’t have glass windows. There is only indoor viewing sections & a glass floor (that I learned from a friendly security officer, was tested by a horse being put on it) & different historic spots. There’s also a small gift shop on your way out, which I made no purchases.
Nothing much to do, other than watching the beautiful view from high up!
Future Visits: Not for myself, only family or friends who haven’t visited.

The Calgary tower offers 360º views of the city of Calgary. The views of the city are amazing and complete with guides to educate you on what you're looking at and how to find iconic landmarks across Calgary such as Olympic Park and the Saddledome. If you're feeling brave you can take a step onto the glass floor and take a look down at the ground over 600ft below! We visited the Tower at sunset which gave us absolutely spectacular views with gorgeous colours as the sun set over the city skyline.

We went at the end of the day. We had about an hour at the top that was adequate time to enjoy the view and take pictures. There really isn't much up there. The history info on the walls was very interesting and worth a read. Other than a restaurant and snack shop and the history info that's about it. Hardly any people were up there at the last hour of it being open. Hope this helps. Have fun. The views are awesome.

How long is the wait time for getting in/taking elevator?
Written 7 March 2017
TheCalgaryTower
Calgary, Canada
The elevator to the top of the Calgary Tower takes just 62 seconds to reach the top.
The length of time that it takes to purchase your tickets to the Tower and to board an elevator may vary according to the season , the day of the week, and the time of day, but is is never an excessively long wait. It generally would never take longer than 10-15 minutes at the longest and it would be rare that it would ever take that long.
