From the splendor of the Rocky Mountains to the heart of Destination Africa, The Calgary Zoo takes you to see almost 900 animals from around the world. Trek through the gorilla’s rainforest, safari over the Savannah to watch the hippos swim, or climb the Canadian Wilds to see a grizzly bear. Cool off and get beak to nose with 4 species of penguins in our popular Penguin Plunge or visit endangered red pandas and amur tigers in Eurasia! Wind down your trip with a walk through our fragrant Dorothy Harvie Gardens or sit with the butterflies in ENMAX Conservatory. You'll love knowing that every visit helps protect endangered animals at home and in the wild.

NEW in 2017 is the unique and immersive permanent Land of Lemurs exhibit. Coming in 2018 are the iconic giant pandas!

It had been years since I went to the Calgary zoo but I'm so glad I did! Calgary is lucky to have such a cool attraction. All the animals seemed well cared for and the zookeepers all seemed happy to work there.

Compares with SanDiego Zoo in my opinion. Modern and clean. Kept up to date with unique exhibits. Butterfly pavilion can be amazing. Newish penguin exhibit is fun. Zoo lights event is fun for the young family at Christmas.

Since we had heard good things about the zoo we went. In our opinion not worth the time. We have been to several highly rated zoos so have a basis for comparison.

Really nice Zoo with a nice variety of animals. I especially loved the Canadian wildlife section (although it was so freezing when we went that a lot of animals were hiding or inside). Still had a winter wonderland feel happening with Christmas lights etc. I would love to go again in Summer and see how different it is then. Highly... More

Insane prices, expect to pay a fortune. Honestly, I wouldn't go unless you a.) Had very small children or b.) had a coupon. Zoo lights are great date nights, but the lions festival of lights in Calgary is free and nearly as good.

With family in town we decided to go to Zoo lights. It was absolutely stunning! There's plenty to do with the family including skating, dancing and exploring. Some of the animals are out at night. There are places to warm up and get some hot chocolate and also do a little souvenir shopping. I highly recommend it.

Oh what wonderful memories the Calgary zoo brings back. I remember school trips and family trips I also remember the Zoo Christmas lights with hot chocolate. Will always visit when I come here. One of my favourite places. So sad they took the elephants though but still enjoyed it all so very much. Take camera, dress warmly as so cold... More

We always visit the zoo in the summer to visit the animals when my grandchildren visit from the states. They love the elephants & the monkeys. The animal keepers are very good explaining the history & life styles of the animals. Last time we went the elephant keeper explained to us the life styles of the elephants which was so... More

I went there and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. So many lights 1.8 million to be exact. It's good bc you can also go into greenhouses where u can warm up when cold. Good for families with kids, just dress warm and you will be fine. The night that I went there were tons of... More

Lovely range of scenes made for an enjoyable couple of hours. Lots of activities for young and old, good facilities and tasty hot chocolate and a cookie went down well.
