From the splendor of the Rocky Mountains to the heart of Destination Africa, The Calgary Zoo takes you to see almost 900 animals from around the world. Trek through the gorilla’s rainforest, safari over the Savannah to watch the hippos swim, or climb the Canadian Wilds to see a grizzly bear. Cool off and get beak to nose with 4 species of penguins in our popular Penguin Plunge or visit endangered red pandas and amur tigers in Eurasia! Wind down your trip with a walk through our fragrant Dorothy Harvie Gardens or sit with the butterflies in ENMAX Conservatory. You'll love knowing that every visit helps protect endangered animals at home and in the wild.

NEW in 2017 is the unique and immersive permanent Land of Lemurs exhibit. Coming in 2018 are the iconic giant pandas!

It was a beautiful winter day so I decided to go to the Zoo. The prehistoric park was closed and many of the Canadian wildlife weren't out however I did see many animals out and enjoyed my day. The penguin plunge is fun to watch the entertaining penguins. I recommend bringing your own snacks/lunch and drinks as the cafe can... More

Last time I went all the animals were really upset, my mom was sicken by the gorillas pucking and eatting it and just doing it over and over again it was sad the zoo is an awesome place to see animals but it is a bad place to have animals there. I rather have the animals free where they live... More

Good day Nyola, We appreciate your feedback. Firstly, let me explain the behavior with the gorillas that was bothering you. It is called regurgitation and re-ingestion and is common within our gorilla troop. Often we see this behavior when they have eaten a certain food that they want to "re-taste" again. We know which food tend to cause this -... More

Born and raised in Calgary, the zoo never loses its appeal. They have an amazing program and change the lives of so many animals in Calgary and the world. Behind the scenes are expensive but worth it!!

Sometimes you get good zoo days and sometimes you don't. It all depends on what kind of mood the animals are in. We were a bit frustrated when we arrived, because the parking situation was difficult to understand, and it's quite expensive at $10 (parking is free at our zoo at home). There were hordes of people when we walked... More

The zoo offers many features from family visits to after hours entertainment year round. You can go from prehistoric times to a Canadian forest The animals all appear well looked after and have good sized facilities. The tropical forest, Africa housing, penguin housing are incredible. There are plenty of places for the kids to play and parents rest stops. The... More

Wonderful place to go by yourself, with family, friends and especially your grandkids. Picnic or eat there. Never get tired of going, the animals can be very entertaining.

May 13 year old found the zoo to be fantastic. She would go early and sit and read at the rhino exhibit. Would definitely recommend the zoo as a family outing for any age.

Overall impression...Meh....from the forced $10 parking which you need exact change (coins only) and our credit card would not work because its issued in another country to the over priced entrance fee its not an attraction I would go out of my way to visit again. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE ANYONE IN A WHEELCHAIR!!! Too many hills if... More

Have been to the Zoo many times. I went with my mom, dad and sister when I was 12 and then again when I was a grandmother with my granddaughter. I have also been there since with visiting teenage Korean girls who loved it. It is a fantastic Zoo and one of the best that I have seen is the... More

Lots to see, clean, well laid out, children love it, and lots of good conservation activity going on behind the scenes, one of the best in North America
