Every July, millions of people come to Calgary's Stampede Park to take part in one of the world's largest rodeos and other popular activities such as chuckwagon racing and agricultural shows. The event's origins date back to 1912, when American Guy Weadick, a successful trick roper, got support to host an event called "Stampede" to celebrate the "disappearing" Old West. Since then, the event has grown drastically and has evolved into a celebration of the Old West, while reflecting the modern, multicultural aspects of the city.

You can easily spend a day at the Stampede and not see everything. Rain or shine, there is something for everyone. Super Dogs, the art exhibits & the wine garden are my favorite places but people watching on the midway is also loads of fun....More

Stampede was great this year. Rodeo shows the world our western traditions. Calgary really gets into the spirit of the Wild West.

We arrived the evening before opening day so we could attend the parade. The parade is really good and highlights all manner of relevant cultural aspects of Calgary. It is also extremely popular so the streets are lined with people. You can pay for seating...More

Everyone should see this a least once. What a blast. We watched the chuck wagon races followed by a huge show then slectacular fireworks. All for 33 bucks.

Loved the Calgary Stampede! Jan Arden hosted the show which was more amazing then we could have imagined! Great acts and awesome racing. The fireworks were terrific also! What a great way to start our vacation which we would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed the stampede! I didn't like the amount of fairground rides that were there a little less of that as it made the experience a little tacky. Grandstand and Rodeo shows were amazing.

The down side was right at the very beginning. If we had not just spent $25 on parking we would have just gone home. The security screening left us standing in line for just over an hour in the hot sun. This procedure is new...More

Yes, I know that the rodeo is significant in cost, however this is the only event of this scale, in Canada, thus for once a year, one can swing the cost. All of the rodeo events are superb and while the clown MC (Rodeo Clown,...More

If you're coming to the stampede for the first time here's what you need to know, There's lots of rides for older kids as well as a great kiddie area but it does get pretty expensive for ride tickets. So it would be best to...More

Sorry for the delay I was away in norther Ontario. However, it's best to buy them earlier and not wait. The show is well worth it. Your children will enjoy the Grandstand show ending with fireworks. The midway (fair area) is... More
